Thank You Glenn!!! |
thanks for understanding.I feel like I've entered the Twilight Zone
here...Bush has been critisized for years now about his speaking
habits,and for acting like a cowboy.I don't care if he's from
Texas,Totonto or timbuktoo...that's the impression he gives...IT HAS
NOTHING to do with him being a southerner!!!I never said it and I
never implied it....

Right, but there's a history in this country to goof on people with
Southern accents, esp. people from the Northeast (esp. secular jews from
the Northeast). So for them to make the connection is not exactly
far-fetched, even if you personally weren't implying that. In other
words, quite often the connection IS made. I've heard the South bashed
*many* times on liberal talk radio out of San Francisco - a bunch of
Bush-supporting far right wing Christian fascist wackos. They literally
use this language when describing the South.
I understand your frustration, I get that here sometimes too. I
remember after 9/11, when I agreed with the policy to go into
Afghanistan, I asked someone if it sounded like I was advocating that we
literally carpet bomb Kabul and kill as many civilians as we can. And
this person said yes, that's what she thought I was advocating. That's
probably one of the stupidest things I've heard in a long time, but
there it was. So I understand your frustration, I think it's just par
for the course when you have people from the far right communicating
with people from the far left in a usenet newsgroup. Every little thing
is going to get picked apart and twisted by both sides.

Yes, that 9/11. It hasn't been all that long.
