Well it won't do any damage then to try it. The computer will discover
the DS and either recognise it as something and let you use it for
something or do nothing.

I just read this:
This USB-flash-disk-sized accessory plugs into a PC's USB port and
creates a miniature hotspot, allowing up to five Nintendo DS units to
connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service through the host
computer internet connection. Currently this device is only compatible
with Windows XP.

They make Opera web browser for DS too, so you could hook it up and then
post from anywhere in the house.

They make another thing called Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector that just
plugs into a USB slot that lets you contect wirelessly with the DS. It's
really small. It costs like $35.
