I wish that were true, but the Matrix trilogy is still among my favorite all
time movies.

Bruce,
Matrix = 10 out 10
Matrix Reloaded = 9 out of 10
Matrix III = 7 out of 10
i own every one except the third one. my mom borrowed them and loved them.
i should buy her a copy of the 3rd.
the Matrix was inspired by postmodern philosophy, in particular, the works
of Baudrillard. when Neo is visited by his hacker buddies, and pulls a disc
out a book, well that book is Simulacra and Simulation. the chapter is
entitled On Nihilism.

I agree. The series was amazing and each movie left me wanting more. The
only thing I didn't like about the 3rd one was that it was the last one.

Very interesting. Thanks for the history!

The Matrix was originally entitled Third Eye and was to be only one
movie, the script was plagerised and stretch into three movies to make
more money. The original author filed suit and the case was settled out
of court. All and all though it was a fascinating story.... the movie
that is.

I thought the same thing when I saw it.. ..as I was ultra paranoid, and
high as a kite.
I got over it, when I got over being a solipsist. Are/were you a solipsist
Michael? Correct me if I'm wrong, I just get the feeling you are/were.
It's not an outlook to anchor onto. It has no utility. I think it has
mostly only negative repercussions.. ..it's lonely.
I think the notions present in the movie were intended as a message, or
philosophy to everyone who had a mind open enough to grasp the possibility
of reality being completely.. ..unknowable.
did you actually escape misery?

Okay, then maybe you can 'splain this
cuz I've been wondering -- ya know how
the spoon bends "because it's not real"?
Okay -- if the spoon isn't real, how
come they need so many guns?

That's why there should never have been a sequel to that film. At the
point you can manipulate a virtual reality it's meaningless and
unnecessary.

Well, that's how I felt about everything
