I was skimming through this book the other day. It's been on the best
seller list for awhile now, which I think is a good sign.It looked
interesting. In the book,he critisizes stupid jerks like Ann
Coulter,Rush Limbaugh,Bill O'reilly...I love that law suit from Fox
news against the book. The Fox News Channel is "Fair and
balanced"?Yeah-and I'm the Pope. The truth is the "liberal media" is a
myth, totally false...Al Franken is having a book signing next
week.maybe I should go...

If anything makes the NY Times "Best Seller" list it means that it
total crap not fit for toilet paper, but the liberal "intelligentia"
love it. Same with with Emies, Sundance awards, Grammies, etc all
crap chosen by liberals.
Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity's books were all NY Times best
sellers.
It looked
interesting. In the book,he critisizes stupid jerks like Ann
Coulter,Rush Limbaugh,Bill O'reilly...
The best part is there was a story on CSPAN late last night about how
they didn't beleive that "Liberal Radio" would be as effective as
Rush, Ann or Bill. Quite frankly, liberals are experiecing backlash
against the crap they keep feeding the American people. American are
sick of being babysitter to the world and every pathetic cause the
liberals come up with. That is why the Right Wing dominate the
heartlands, they tell the people what they want to hear, which is what
they beleive, and they are voting accordingly.
Contrary to what you may think America's role in the world is, it is not
one of "babysitter" or "peacekeeper." America makes most of its own
problems. The taliban, Bin Laden were a direct result of America's
interfering with Afghanistan and leaving the country a mess. We
supported Bin Laden. Saddam was supported by the U.S. and allowed to
take over Iraq, committing countless genocide, rape, and torture
unchecked and unopposed by the U.S. gov despite human rights protests.
I love that law suit from Fox
news against the book. The Fox News Channel is "Fair and
balanced"?Yeah-and I'm the Pope
Oh like the NY times or Washington post are. Face it, Americans are
really sick of the liberal world loving agenda, we have our own
problems, we don't give a ***** about the world's. We don't give a
***** about social justice for the pathetic of the world when our own
are going without. We don't care about the plight of immigrants when
Americans are losing their jobs for the sake of "efficency" (a/k/a
cheap labor). Such is life in the 21st Centruy.
The flower children of the 60's FAILED, they are aging, it's time for
them to move out of the way before they are kicked out of the way.
The NY Times and Washington Post are both conservative papers. This has
well documented in studies.
.The truth is the "liberal media" is a myth, totally false
*****, the facts speak for themselves, as much as the liberal media
wishes mainstream america to care about their pathetic causes, they
don't, they are very slowly waking up that the world has always been
about survival of the most ruthless, eithe we can win, or the other
guy, phrased that way, It's a sure bet, people will vote for their own
best intrests.
You mean "the lies speak for themselves." You've never presented facts
about the case, and neither has any conservative. They rely on lies to
make their case. Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly are all known
liars.

The conservative and some of the liberal media is just waking up to

The NY Times and Washington Post are both conservative papers. This has
well documented in studies.
Give us some links pointing to these studies.

The Fox News Channel is "Fair and

myth, totally false...Al Franken is having a book signing next

Years ago I sat next to him at a publisher's convention, he was the

Al Franken's book was very well researched, in contrast to the
information presented by Fox News.

Well, the answer to that is simple... he wasn't. The 'Bush is stupid' crap
started almost from the day Bush announced he was running. And let's not
forget the cameras lingering on Al Gore's eye rolling every time Bush was
speaking during the debates. A more despicible display you'd be hard
pressed to find in Presidential campaigning history on anybody's part and
yet the media gave it almost full time live coverage. The Dems have done
nothing but run him down from the beginning and the media by and large has
been their more than willing pawn, Fox News Network and Rush Limbaugh being
the two notable exceptions to the rule.

PCT is also a huge supporter of National Public Radio which, like most
non-profit media organizations, is left-leaning. No big secret there,
but it's worthy of consideration. I would be hard-pressed to find any
news/media organization that doesn't have a discernable political slant,
and this often makes "fact" more of a matter of perspective than
objective. It's tricky.

NPR does not distort facts like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Sean
Hannity, and Fox News does. The latter have been proven to be
unreliable and use lies to further right wing agenda. I have yet to
hear proof that NPR is left and biased. It is all hearsay to me.

You missed my point. I didn't claim that NPR distorts facts. What I was
getting at is that the "facts" are often open to interpretation. No
matter how "objetcive" or balanced a media organization is, they are
selective in what kind of news they represent and how it is presented.
Certainly, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, et al, are interested in furthering the
right-wing agenda; that's their job, after all.
FWIW, I've found NPR to be well balanced in presenting the news, and
their approach is refreshing. But, as with any media organization,
politics are going to play a role. You can't divorce the two: NPR is a
"by the people for the people" station, and will tend to approach hotly
debated political topics from a humanist perspective that you don't get
from conservative news programs (such as "man in the street" interviews
and stories). But "by the people for the people" is a creedo most often
associated with democratic and liberal-democratic principles. That's not
a criticism. That's how it is. Every news show will have some degree of
bias because they're targeting different audiences.

Fox's slogan "fair and balanced" is clearly not representative of what
the station really does.

"I think, therefore I am - I think."
-Descartes Redux
It is an interesting read. I was struck, not so much by any particular
part, but at the tenor of the argument. Maybe this begs the question of
what we consider "fair and balanced" which is something of a loaded
phrase anyway. Does it mean a news organization's keeping enough token
conservatives or liberals on their respective staffs to achieve the
appearance of this elusive balance? If anything, the article tells me
that the line between the two is anything but sharp. I thought it was
something though, that someone like Mara Liasson was pilloried for those
quoted statements which, on their face, didn't seem all that
incendiary. I would hardly consider her a right-wing mole or a raging
John Bircher, but if she does lean somewhat right of center, what the
harm?
Is it/Has it been of any service to us for a news organization to employ
only those whose politics fit some rather narrowly defined parameters
and say 'Whose side are you on'? I'll say it's a lot more comfortable
for someone who does not like having his/her political beliefs
challenged. But I couldn't imagine anything more bland, and the absence
of that tension won't further the big discussion in any meaningful way.
Instead, we get the verbal diarrhea about the conservative lie, the
liberal sham, etc., ad nauseum. It just wears a body down.
