Looks like the world is on fire

The fire chased some condors into town, first time I've seen them.

Very scary, Charles, and still out of
control from what I've read. How far
away from your house are the fires in
the photo?

Was about nine miles the last report I saw, still mostly in the
wilderness area. Not moving toward my house, but it is moving towards
someone's. It's been burning since labor day, I expect it will be put
out whenever the rains come.

It seems like the burning season is
getting longer. Or, maybe I just notice
it more since my son moved there. Sorry
for the someones whose houses it's
moving towards -- but I sure am glad it
ain't towards yours.

We can have burning season almost any time here, I think it was last
year we had some big fires in January. Dry brush and hot, dry wind do
wonders.
The fire is to the north and east of me, INCIWEB says they think in
may move south and west, but the weather satellite shows the smoke
blowing north of west. Whatever happens, something will happen. I am
well enough into the city that I don't worry, folks on the margins of
the forest are in some danger.

How's the air quality for you though?

Right now, not bad. It could get a lot worse with a wind shift, the
smoke went over here for a short time yesterday when the wind did
shift, but right now I can't complain (but as the guy in the song
says, but sometimes I still do.)

Doesn't look like rain is coming anytime
soon. Damn! (that's me complaining for ya.)
