God doesn't exist either.
Yet it does.
Because it's in our heads. Part of how we think.
Is that just historical?
Maybe. A lot of people who are long dead have thought so.
But maybe just the shape that the-thing-in-the-head takes is
historical--sometimes God, sometimes society, and maybe, at some point,
something else entirely.
Brains are tricky things.
All that gelatinuous gray stuff is truly the substrate of all of this.
But that stuff doesn't tell you anything about what's going to be on the
news.
And it's the stuff that's on the news that we tend to think of as what is
"really" going on.

I always liked the fact that, in my native tongue, "society" and
"dirtiness"
look and sound almost exactly the same.
(society ----> sociedad)
(dirtiness ----> suciedad)
