Think of your brain as being like the gas tank on your car. |
The gas you put in is the truth. The air that is in your gas tank is
a collection of irrational beliefs. Now you can fill your gas tank up
slowly by taking in truth from outside of you and hearing/reading more
rational thoughts. That takes a lot of time and most people become
more confident in themselves over time because they naturally learn
more truth through experience about themselves and their own abilities
as their life progresses. Right?
But there is a better way to fill your gas tank with the truth. By
removing the irrational beliefs that are the air in your gas tank
using CBT or REBT, there is a vacuum created by that loss. The truth
likes that vacuum and fills it naturally. The byproduct of knowing
the truth about yourself is confidence and that makes your motor run
smoother and stronger.
Soon you have a self-sustaining car. You don't have to go back to the
station for fillups because your gas tank (truth) always fills up by
removing the air (irrational beliefs).
Does that make sense to you people out their who doubt yourselves? You
see the truth is buried inside of you and all you have to do is draw
it out by removing your irrational beliefs and the byproduct will be
self confidence. It's not that complex, but it is difficult at first.
Keep trying. I've been where you are, come towards the light.

I used to think I might be the person most full of
extremely-stretched metaphors, but now I see that although my
metaphor tank may be full in the normal sense of "full", you have
gone all the way to actually top off your tank above the "full" mark!!
Correction! The gas is truth, not the gas tank.
The metaphor was so stretched that I didn't read carefully enough
to catch that little typo, sigh. I've read through and I see your
typo now, on the next-to-last-line of the quoted text. It should
have read:
! Soon you have a self-sustaining car. You don't have to go back to the
! station for fillups because your gas tank always fills up by
! removing the air (irrational beliefs) to make room for more fuel (truth).
Is that what you meant to say?
It's *****! If you remove air from the top of the tank, without
replacing the space with any fuel, you get a partial vacuum inside
the tank, which causes the tank to collapse (implode). If that
metaphor is applied to your brain, where you remove all the bad
stuff, but don't replace it by anything good, can you imagine what
your shrunken brain would look like?
I'd better watch out if we ever meet in person. You're dangerous!

That's rubby-dubby. Guts and fish heads and anything else that's
smelly, fermented on the boat in a big bucket for 3 weeks and mixed
with sawdust or oats. Yee-ha! If that doesn't attract the fish,
they're already dead.

"Bobber" is Shropshire dialect for "chum".
"Chum" as in mucker or "chum" as in rubby-dubby?
Or "chum" as in the nasty bits of fish that you toss in the
water to
attract other fish to the area.
That's rubby-dubby. Guts and fish heads and anything else
that's
smelly, fermented on the boat in a big bucket for 3 weeks and
mixed
with sawdust or oats. Yee-ha! If that doesn't attract the
fish,
they're already dead.
you're gonna need a bigger boat
Haha! I *love* that bit, I love that film. Robert Shaw is
fantastic in
it.

Haha! After I saw if for the first time I was a bit like that. I can't
remember what age I was but I was too young to have seen it in the
cinema when it first came out and I remember being absolutely
fascinated by the poster, you know the one where the girl is swimming
and jaws is coming straight up at her? I would stand outside the
"pictures" and stare at it. I don't think it was just the teeth though
cos I was at the age when "feelings" were beginning to stir and there
was a naked lady on the poster. Not that you could see much but she
was in the buff! Shock!
when i was about the same age ,
on my way to school i had to pass a movie theatre ,
and every once in a while they would show ,
something like that ,
in the playing next poster window ,
i remember all us 10 and 12 year olds ,
crowded around and staring at ,
a woman in a 2 piece swim suit ,
you could actually see her navel , OOOOH !
A navel?! Jeez! Innocence, eh? I'd like to go back to that time,
knowing what I know now. There are several things I'd change and
several people I'd give sore faces to. Oh yes! I would descend upon
them with a furious anger! Basturts.

Oh, I thought you meant rubby-dubby as in Russian conscript.

more confident in themselves over time because they naturally learn
more truth through experience about themselves and their own abilities

Correction! The gas is truth, not the gas tank.
