this whole homeowner thing |
is weird and overwhelming
i'm in my new house now. i'm still having a hard time grasping that
it's *mine*. (well, mine and the bank's....) there are boxes
everywhere and the whole unpacking thing is so freaking daunting. i
need to get on that but i'm exhausted.
everything is out of the old place and it's cleaned though. yay for no
more jerky landlord!!!
cats are adjusted, mushroom's adjusted, luce is a mess. i'm hoping
she'll soon calm down and stop being sulky and clingy and worrying me.
me, i'm loving having a bathtub and an attached garage and a backyard
not bordered by a barking schnauzer. i'll get the fence up eventually
and then i can just open the door and usher them out to go potty
instead of having to escort two knuckleheaded dogs.
my new bedroom is freaking *huge* and has skylights which i love.

Awesome house Elegy....
You're washer and dryer together were about 1200 to 1300, I know I just
bought a washer and priced the font loading WP, I used to sell appliances
too.
Nice set you'll love them

Looks like a sturdy crib. Congratulations are in order.
It did me in, moving. I had a moving company do it, first time ever.
But they leave and make you unpack alone, and half the stuff I packed
doesn't belong in this house...it's been a week and a half for me, I am
happy for you.
I had to dispose of a ton of coal in my basement at the old house. And
100 years of old paint and rusty things. But the biggest collection
was the 40 gallon jugs of fabric softener that Bob had bought because
it was on sale, 20 years ago The junkman took it.
One of my cats wants to go out and kill chipmunks so bad...he's crying,
and he never did that before. But I don't want him to try to find his
way home. It's 60 miles.

okay here's some pics of the house.
http://www.bolt.com/ajfromsuburbia
i don't exactly love it. it's okay i guess. even though it was completely
totally NEW in 2004, I miss the other, much older places i lived. not the
one i moved out of to here, but before that. but gotta move on, i guess.
This house....the livingroom is ok, the kitchen is crap but appliances are
good. the stairway to the 2nd floor, and the 2nd floor hallway are cool
(IMO). The bathrooms are OKAY. the bedrooms are actually decent but much
too messy to be shown, plus everyone else was either reading or on their
computers, not wanting to be bothered, so, no pics of the bedrooms. not
even mine, it's a jungle! the basement is the storage area with shelves and
boxes EVERYWHERE
(not shown!) until we have a garage built. but the washer and dryer in
basement are shown (no idea about those things, they work though)
two-story. three entire floors. two full flights of stairs. never had that
before. not bad, not great.
people who see it say "its lovely!" and really mean it too, not just being
polite.
I say to them "it's nothing great, just okay"
there ya have it.

whoa, COOL congrats Elegy!
can I say, welcome to suburbia, the suburbs, and your new house? is that
right? you live in da suburbs now ?
awesome house.
as ive said a trillion times, i was born in the city, Chicago, lived there
until i was almost 5. then my family moved us to a house in the nearby
suburb of Glenview (they call it the Village of Glenview) it was new and
exciting and scary as an almost- 5 year old to be in this new house. the
rooms where huge. the whole place was probably 3x what the apartment in
Chicago was.
then after the house was sold (very unhappy!) we moved to an apartment in
a subdivision in another suburb about 40 miles away, i hated it. then 5 or
so years later we moved to a townhouse in another subdivision in Gurnee IL
and i loved it. then we moved again about 3 years later to rent a house,
part of a house and it
was crappy in comparison. no Kitchen! the "kitchen" was just one part of
the livingroom. that was beyond crappy. but the neigborhood was nice. Then
finally we moved to a house in yet another suburb, in another subdivision
that would be our own. this house is pretty cool. three floors including a
full (but unfinished) basement. 3 bedroom. the master bedroom is like 2
medium bedrooms combined. the bottem of the stairway on the first floor and
front door, it's configured alot like yours!
I'll post some pics on bolt.com or myspace. (make that bolt cuz myspace has
a limit of 12 pics and i'm already there). or maybe here.
ummm, anywayyyyy, your house looks VERY cool. you know what, when i got
my own car, it was really weird, cuz it was my own car and i could go almost
anywhere. it was an overwelming experience the first day or so. i could not
quite grasp that it was MINE!
anyway back to the present, i gotta get a fence for the backyard for Josh,
so i can have him out there without a leash.
CONGRATS AGAIN, WOOHOO
