thoughts of the day |
here are some of my thoughts this morning:
i'm fat and unattractive.
nobody likes me.
i'll never be able to afford to retire.
when i'm 80, i'll have to work as a greeter at wal-mart, smiling at
customers but feeling miserable.

i'm fat and unattractive.
You probably do not look as bad as you think, but you can diet. Do it.
nobody likes me.
Do you have friends? You need to make friends.
i'll never be able to afford to retire.
when i'm 80, i'll have to work as a greeter at wal-mart, smiling at
customers but feeling miserable.
This is a terrible thought. Think of something wonderful you'd like to do that
would money, and do it.

i know i should diet, but i can't stop myself from eating too many snacks. i
should also exercise, but i don't have the mental energy to make me do it
(except for occasional 10-minute walks, but that hardly counts as exercise).
nobody likes me.

no, i don't have any friends. humans don't like me. maybe i should get a
pet.
i'll never be able to afford to retire.

my current job is well paid, so maybe i will be able to retire (not at 67,
but maybe at 70 or so) after all. i'm not sure i want to retire, though.
what will i do? work is the only thing that makes me get up in the morning.
if and when i retire, i won't have anything to do.

I know, it is hard. Just try to cut down, but not altogether.

No. Walking is great. And like Thor said, looks are not everything, though I
know you need to feel good about yourself too.
nobody likes me.

You should make some friends here to start. And a pet is a good idea -- a real
good idea. A place to start. Go do it, don't be afraid and throw caution to
the wind (that will feel good to do). Just march down to the pet store and pick
a friend to bring home!
i'll never be able to afford to retire.

This post sounds so sad. Try as hard as you can to think the opposite of the
way you are thinking. Tell yourself you will find a wife, get married, perhaps
have children?
Don't give up on humans which includes yourself. I am so sorry you feel so
alone.
Do think of starting a "new" life by getting a pet as a beginning.
Best

although i'd like that, that doesn't seem likely to happen. where and how
would i find a wife? who would want to marry me?

Also, looks alone do not define a person. People worth being around
aren't going to judge you because of your physical appearance, IMO. In
other words, if people are going to judge you harshly because of a
variable that is outside your control, then they are the ones with the
problem, not you. Who needs that kind of grief?

I'm coming to terms with my gross mismanagement of money, finally. It's
going to be a long slog, but time is a powerful ally. Get rid of debt,
use debt only for things that appreciate, not for consumption. When I
finally pay down my debt, I want to start a ROTH IRA. No-load index
fund, just put in a set amount each month and forget about it.
Yeah, I know, I need to pay attention to my own advice too. Well,
what's the phrase, you'll change when you get sick and tired of being
sick and tired.

Others have written supportive posts, I can't really do that because
all I can say is I have the same feelings. Maybe knowing you aren't
the only one who feels that way is a bit supportive? I don't know.
maybe not. Anyway, you aren't the only one, if it helps at all to know
that.
