(totally OT) if i rented a movie last saturday at blockbuster... |
is it due back today at midnight or tomorrow at midnight?
it's a 7 day rental. i'm thinking it's tomorrow, but i'm not sure!

"As of Jan. 1, 2005, movie and game rentals are due back at the date and
time stated on the transaction receipt. There is no additional rental charge
if a member keeps a rental item beyond the pre-paid rental period. However,
if a member chooses to keep a rental item more than a week after the end of
the rental period, Blockbuster will automatically convert the rental to a
sale on the eighth day after the end of the rental period."

I have no idea how they count days, but to error on the safe side,
Saturday -> Friday is 7 days. I'd return it tonight.

I always return them late, sometimes a couple weeks, as the
blockbuster near me closed and I don't get the one further away often
they never have charged me a late fee, I guess that's still in
place...I thought they reversed the decision to eliminate but
apparently not

They can screw you over more at least. A merchant has a ridiculous (IMO)
amount of time to refund the charge to your card.

"New movies were considered “two day rentals,” meaning they had to be
back to the store before it closed on the second night. But wait a
second, what if it’s 10 p.m. and I’m just leaving the store, I won’t
even watch this movie until tomorrow night – surely tonight doesn’t
count as the first night. Well, yes it does. This proved confusing
enough that Blockbuster decided to modify its return policy to “noon
on the third day.”
So, for 7 day rentals, I guess it would be:
Rented Monday Due the following Monday at Noon
Rented Tuesday Due the following Tuesday at Noon
and so on...
