What's the most popular tourist attraction near your home?
Great America in San Jose is closest to where we live. There's Santa
Cruz (the Boardwalk in particular), Monterey Bay (there's a huge
aquarium there), but the most popular would be San Fransisco, and
there's plenty of tourist attractions there.
What do tourists come to see near or in your home town?

I'm nearest the Quad-Cities (Moline and Rock Island, IL, and Bettendorf
and Davenport, IA). It's not a hot spot for domestic tourism, but
Europeans seem intrigued by it. They come here, gawk at the Mississippi
River, and buy up a whole lotta John Deere souvenirs. There are also the
Mississippi Valley Blues Fest and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz
Festival, both in July in Daveport, along the levee. They both bring in
music fans from around the Midwest (and nationwide particularly for the
Bix Fest).

Foliage. We're on a AAA scenic route. After that, they've seen
in books about Bear's Den, which is a nice nook with a
waterfall, or the view from the overlook behind the fire
station. Yes, I've more than once heard folks giving directions
in the general store how to go around the fire station.
Only 17 miles from here's a university with 30,000 students or
so, as well as 2 other colleges in the same town. Students don't
do more than drive through our town on their way there, though,
then forget we existed. Just as well.

umm.. ..we have none, as far as I can figure.. ..we do have the
Synchrotron (Canada's most powerful particle accelerator), at our Uni..
...but that's more for the scientific crowd.
I guess the Bessaborough Hotel has been frequented by royalty, and stands as
a tourist attraction to some. But this certainly isn't a very attractive
city to tourists.. ..there's no permanent theme parks, water parks, etc.
etc.. ..I guess there's Waneskewan (first nations heritage park).. ..but
it's more a place to take kids to on field trips..
I would love to visit San Francisco however..

Well, your city does have a lot of interesting festivals, ISTM. Many of
them I'd be enthused to attend, particularly the music, performing arts
and Ukranian ones.

that is true.. ..the Jazz festival is one of my faves.. ..not that I'm huge
on Jazz per se.. ..but "Jazz" can encompass a broad spectrum of genres..
...some pretty big names do come through here I suppose. The Fringe festival
is ok too.. ..lots of good plays, food, street-performers and hand-made
wares for sale, but mainly a breeding ground for horny and drug-frenzied
teenagers
I used to Ukrainian dance actually.. ..for almost 9 years.. ..I was pretty
good, I think, and could do split jumps and other flying acrobatic type
stuff that would kill me to do now.. ..I danced with my group at the Folk
festival every year, for little pay.. ..but was eventually offered a place
with Pavlichenko. I turned it down for some reason..
