Hey everyone - this is Leigh, formerly known as Maddie. I used to be an
a.s.a.r. person. After that folded I hung out on a.a.r. and cave for a while,
and then bopped around from place to place. I never found anything I really
liked. Too many fights, or too many rules, or too few people, or, or, or. So.
Mica and I (anyone who knows or remembers me will also know or remember Mica)
have decided to start up a forum and IRC channel based on two concepts. One is
the old (going back several years) "abuse.transcendence" concept. That is, we
are not "survivors," we are people who have been abused and who think the goal
is to transcend the abuse rather than identify ourselves by it. The second is
that we are all adults and don't need anyone protecting us on line from
everything that might possibly trigger anyone.
So. the forum is at http://www.abusetranscendence.org/phpbb/index.php. That
is our second home, since we had technical difficulties with the first. The
IRC channel is on sorcery (kechara.sorcery.net) and is #transcendence. If
anyone needs IRC instructions, you can find some posted in the forums. We just
started this and traffic is still fairly low (10 or less people), so if you're
new to IRC now's a great time to come in and not be overwhelmed J The website
is at http://www.abusetranscendence.org.
Let me just add, now that I'm posting the second round of this, that I'm not
criticizing any other group or channel. No one group is going to be right for
everyone, and I don't see it as a competition. If you are happy where you are
on line, that's wonderful. If you aren't, or if you don't have an on-line
home, or if you want an additional space to hang out in, we'd love to have you.
