I'm sorry if my recruitment email offended you in any way. I assure
you I am not trying to "use your misfortune to gain my education";
rather, the purpose of research is to try and gain some insight into
various aspects of people and their experiences in an effort to help
others in similiar situations. I have participated in a number of
research studies where I was asked some very difficult questions about
some very difficult experiences of my own and I found that talking
about them in an anonymous setting where I could answer freely (without
fear of someone knowing my answers came from me) actually made me feel
better. Obviously every person's response is different, but I do not
want you or anyone else to think I am trying to use you or purposely
make you uncomfortable by asking for participants for my study.
As I mentioned in my original posting, I am simply giving out the
information to those who might be interested in participating. Whether
you or anyone else participates from seeing this posting, I will never
know. Again, I apologize if you felt in any way offended or upset by
my posting, and I hope this has not given you the wrong impression
about psychological research.
Take care.
Amie

I did it. The more information about PTSD, the better.
