my mother died when I was 18.. ..
my dad's never been the same. I'm the only one in our family who humors him
and puts up with his *****.. ..that's what I do for him.

similar.. ..my dad's not real outwardly abusive.. ..it's more
self-inflicted... ..he's stuck in rotating crisis mode. Can't seem to
stay away from people and situations (socially) that interfere with the rest
of his life. Example.. ..his SO can be very abusive and has meltdowns which
interfere with his work/sleep/etc..

children.
Must have. There was some regret on my father's part, I think, for how
short of the mark he hit.
So it goes. I forgave him for that, and I think he knew it. At the end, I
don't think either us had unfinished business left with the other, and that
was a good thing.
