Object: Update on David
Jane,
Will give you a brief update on David. He wrote a letter to his mom and
dad and wanted me to send you a copy, but I find that it doesn't scan very
well. He is still in the hospital and doing better. However, the hospital
thinks that he should be released to a residential care facility for
awhile to get readjusted to a better pattern. Thereafter, he can go back
to an apartment and continue to be independent. He is strongly resisting
this and thinks that he can do just fine going back to his place and going
to outpatient care. We reminded him that he was in the hospital two times
last year, got better, and then went back to his old place and promptly
went back into the same routine of staying up at night and not taking meds
regularly.
We do not know how everything will work out. But we are committed to not
let him go back to the old place and continue his ways. He will never get
better that way.
Thought that I would give you this update. If you have any words of wisdom
to him, I will pass it on. As always, we appreciate you being there as a
resource. Sometimes it takes the outside voice to get through to him.
Hope that you are doing OK with all of your issues.
Best Wishes,

Best Wishes,

Thanks for posting this Jane. I'm glad his family seem to realise that
he's just not coping living on his own right now. I hope that changes
and he's able to be independent again but I have no doubt, based on what
we see here, the best place for him is a residential care home for as
long as is recommended by his doctors.
