Viggo Mortensen in Spanish (and he's not bad) |

For some reason the man's done a film over here (actually,
his second one, the first being an obscure little movie years
ago). I can't really see why, as he would have made fifty times
more money on any American production, at a minimum (maybe
he's so flthy rich already that he doesn't care anymore).
The film isn't on the theatres yet, but I've just seen the trailer.
I was curious as to what he would sound like. His accent is
a bit... he doesn't get it 100% 'right', but he doesn't sound
'foreign' either. It feels weird :S but he does it pretty well indeed.
I wonder whether this will make it to the US. I think the market
for 'foreign' films is rather small over there. If it does, it will
probably be dubbed (and I bet he'll dub himself in English). Many
people dislike reading subtitles.
The trailer is in the original Spanish subtitled in English, though,
with an English voiceover. It looks like it's directed to an English
speaking audience after all.

(No, I'm not a fan of him or anything. I just heard he was making a
film
in Spain, and was curious to hear him speak. They said they were
using 17th century Castilian... hearing an American's best try at
/that/
was something I couldn't miss. Alas, they pronounce it just like 2006

Hi, neo.. I think Viggo thinks of himself as a true artist,,, it's
all about the work.. he is interesting he seems to have alot of places
inside himself to go too.. does that make sense? anyway I like him,, I
think his best work may still be ahead of him,, ! jill

I never really followed his career, to me he was just the guy who
played
Aragorn (and was a perfect cast). It was odd that hey had chosen
him for this film in Spain because he was to play a famous character
from a well-known (over here) series of novels, and you'd have
expected a Spanish actor for the role; I had thought they just wanted
an
international star so that the film would be distributed abroad.
Now that I've seen a few scenes, I think he's just *perfect* for the
role o_O. He's even learnt to mimic a convincing Spanish Spanish
accent.
I can't wait to see the film, in fact (but I thought the same when I
saw
the "Revenge of the Sith" trailer, so I'll keep my expectations lower
this
time...).
