Object: We
a number of the families i've known growing up want me to do
maintenance activities for their property.
they have family to do it.
they lack structure to get family members to do it.
or family are too busy living their own lives.
a lack of structure and legal structure in my own family as
grandmother was dying gave me an insane picture of the
world.
the phrase 'purification rituals at the temple' came to
mind.
'the turkey in the temple.'
set to the structure function 'tune' of tori amos's song
'martha's foolish ginger'
i was working at one estate
and a wild turkey landed in a tree.
the woman made loose suggestion
that state university of new york at albany chapel house is
up the road.
the suggestion she made
was that people in chapel house prayed
for a wild turkey to land in the tree by where i was
working.
i had a conversation with an exchange student one summer
when she returned from home to call me and ask me to do
something. no preamble, just do it.
we have an advertisement on television for a soft drink
called syria mist. the drink is stolen at the office and the
person trying to find it is sticking his nose into the
mouth, the personal space of his fellow employees.
imagine if he was the one who stole his own soft drink.
between being 'all alone', and that turkey in the tree
was the range of formative process in my life.
