it's still nice here. my son and i went for a fairly long walk
and enjoyed the sun.
too many tourists, though. at the reservoir gate, there were six
or eight cars from four states. there's usually at most one car
there.

It seems a little late to me this year,
what do you think? I remember Columbus
day weekends when I've lolled on the
beach and another when there were
blizzard-like squalls. That was on Mt.
Adams, though.

i think it is late. columbus day weekend is when all the
tourists are here for the colors and pack the local orchard.
we usually get snow around the last week of october. the
serious snow holds off until thanksgiving.

Everything here is 95% green, except
along the river. I forget exactly how
the whole foliation thing works -- but I
think the changing has more to do with
the number of sunny days and not so much
the temperature. Cuz it's been cool
enough. A couple o' rainy days and peak
could come and go in a real short time.

on the news weather report, they said it was cold nights that
bring it on. we've only had frost a few nights so far.
