Wednesday Question of the Day |
How would you describe your hair?
Mine is kinda like a Marine cut and very light brown with streaks of
blond. A little longer on the top and sorta shaved on the sides. I'm
sure my wife could tell you the name of the cut if she were here but I
have no idea what its called. It's very easy to take care of cause I
don't have to do anything to it because its so short. Just wash and
go....
Kenster
PS. Much, much less detailed answers are appropriate such as wet,
dry, blue, green, short, long....you get the picture....say as much as
you feel comfortable saying.

Long. Mid back. Thick. Naturally wavy. Cut in layers. Sort of falls all
over like you just got out of bed. Chocolate brown with auburn highlights.
Greying some on top. Mostly in the front but I dye the grey. Not ready to
give in to it yet. Luckily - pretty good hair genes. :)

Ok, I was gonna search and look and stuff, but I'm too lazy and I
figured hearing it coming from you would be more interesting.

LOL. ..i was going to include a definition for my US friends. It's funny
that this is such a Canadian stand-up comic cliche' - American's always
wondering what the hell a toque is. I know it's not your fault, you're not
dense.. ..just from a different place.
"toque" is the word everyone in Canada uses for what I believe you would
call a "winter hat" . Pronounced "tük". I tend to wear mine year round
sometimes. It's a pathetically dilapitated whispy grey crocheted thing,
that my dad thinks looks like a beanie.

Ahhh, ok. Thanks! Now don't take this the wrong way but I would
imagine in Canada you have more of a "seasonal" advantage to wearing
one of those more often don't you? I mean I'm pretty much in the
northern part of the US so I know it gets damn cold around here. I
can't imagine how cold it gets up there.
I shrink and shrivel just thinking about it...LMAO...:o)

Ken,
The cut your wife gives you is probably what they refer to as a "fade"
(5/8" or so at the top of the sides, smoothly fading to nothing at the
bottom. A Marine's haircut is called a "high and tight"- shaved bare
on the sides, 5/8" or so on top, and (if I am correct), not flatted
much (or at all). Mine is somewhere in-between.

ok, I think mine is probably somewhere in between as well. Probably
leaning more towards the Marine thing than the other. My wife always

It'll start to look good in a few weeks if you don't wash it. Water's
okay, but soap and shampoo leave it needing conditioner because of all
the natural oils they strip off your hair. I shampooed mine twice in
twelve years, and it looked better than most people's. Cheaper too. :)

I understand this feeling all too well sometimes. My wife usually
puts a quick end to the results, but the feelings still remain. I
just can't convince her that I'm allergic to water and soap and stuff
like that.

I like short hair on females for some reason. Now don't think I'm
coming on to you or anything...:o) The reason I mention it is because
when I met my wife she had a short style that I just fell in love with
and after we married she let it grow out. Me being the loving,
caring, wonderful guy (cough, cough) that I am didn't say anything to
her about it. Than, after about 3 or 4 years of long hair I finally
got the opportunity to get her to cut her hair short again without it
being my idea..(I just love it when that happens).
I've learned to comment on her hair and say things about how much I
love short hair ever since then. It's been short ever since as well.
Is this the part where I've been trained or has she been trained????

when i wore it very short, i often got compliments on my hair.
i haven't had any since i started to grow it. i guess i'll

I would love to have the curls and body that people have in their
hair. Mine just kinda grows and is thin. It would pretty much just
lay on my head and do nothing if I let it. That's why I keep it
short.
Up until my father passed, he had a full head of hair and had very
little grey. I think I may at least be blessed with good hair genes.
The least he could have done was not bless me with the genes
underneath the hair, but he must have a good sense of humor I suppose.

Which of your meds causes the thinning? That is the one thing I don't
think I've ever discussed with any of my pdocs. I have very fine, yet
a thick head of hair (if that makes any sense). That's the main
reason I wear it the way I do. I really couldn't do anything with it
if I wanted to. I sure don't want to start losing it though.

Lamictal.
Zinc supplements are supposed to help. I take a multivitamin every
day with zinc in it. I may need more.
Extra-virgin olive oil is a great hair and scalp conditioner. Leaves
a residue, though. Gotta put it in and wash it back out.

It does happen. Do talk to your doc. Do you take vitamins? I take a
heavy-duty stress formula with high B-complex, Ginseng and Ginkgo
Biloba extract. Massage your scalp or ask your wife to do it. The
extra circulation seems to help.
