Jean

you can stick a lot of letters in front of art
besides f that make words that mean something
like, nothing (art = something that can be appreciated)
cart, dart, mart, part, tart, uart (ok, obscure), wart
me, depart

I have those days too , in fact they seem to be coming more and more ,
I need a new motivator a new cause to get up and get going ,
I'm thinking about going back to college and maybe even ,
back to work next spring just to have something to do

I have those days too , in fact they seem to be coming more and more

,

I need a new motivator a new cause to get up and get going ,
I'm thinking about going back to college and maybe even ,
back to work next spring just to have something to do

Where would you go to college around there? On-line courses?

my town has a college

What's the school's name? How many students?

Northern Lights College about 300 students

Wow, my high school was bigger than that.

What are you thinking about going back for? Another degree or just take
some interesting classes?

every now and then the place i work for has ,
manditory subjects you need to take ,
new theories , some new radical guy with a new radical idea ,
and if i go back to work in the spring i'll meed to take these subjects
eventually anyway so i thought i might try school first ,
just to get back in the swing of getting up and having to do something ,
your high school is probably bigger than my town
.

There's a small college in %'s home
town. Unless he's been kidding me for
years about where he lives. I've spent
plenty of time on his town's website
for, ya know, context. Plus I like to
read the real estate ads in his town's
online newspaper ... so I can shake my
head in bemusement. If I sold my house
here and bought there, I'd have a nice
chunk of change in my pocket. But I
don't think I could pay the bears to
stay offa my porch so relocating is not
in my future.
Some may think this a kind of
cyberstalking but I just call it a hobby.

What if you just said your hobby was cyberstalking.

Doesn't there have to be some ill will
involved for it to be cyberstalking?

No I think you just have to have an obsession with that person.

That makes sense. I do find % to be a
very interesting person. But I guess any
obsession is more directed towards
folks, in general, who find a way to
live off of the beaten track. I also
liked the idea of a community that is
small enough to be somewhat 'knowable'.
I tell ya, though, the real estate is
low priced compared to Boston -- but the
prices for things like groceries is
high. How would I know things like that
that without reading the ads in the paper?

You've pretty much got the kind of job that can be laregely telecommuted
too don't you?

Yes -- but a lot of it based on the bond
between me and a customer and, in my
opinion, that's gotta be a face-to-face
thing some of the time. Enough to make
location a factor too big for me to
ignore. And I did a lot of research on
ISP access, speed, and uptime in less
populated areas (not just %'s place) and
it was sketchy. Wireless ain't "there"
enough yet for me to feel secure about
depending on it. Yet.

It is a bit remote for that. Satellite link is an option, although I'm
not sure how well you'd be able to get a fix on geosynchronous from up
there.
You could commute if it was cost effective but as he's said, there's 1
flight per week so you're not exactly going to be able to fly direct
non-stop service to New York.

Nope, I'm not. It's not just about the
work, though. A couple of weeks ago I
had a slow day and dcided to hop on a
bus and go to the Ansel Adams exhibit at
a world-class museum here. I think I'm
livin' in the best place for me. That
was the real reward of exploring
different options. Like, hey, I'm
already here!

I don't do well in high density city life, nor do I want to live in the
middle of nowhere. Put me out on the edge of a medium sized city and
give me some country to roam around in. I like to drive down a road
without constant stop and go and to be able to head out on my bike. To
be able to go hiking in real forests without driving for hours.
I liked the convenience and endless exploration of a big city but I just
can't put up with cramped conditions like that as something permanent.
Oh give me a home, where the buffalo used to roam...

Oh give me a home, where the buffalo used to roam...

A friend of mine wrote a book,
Querencia, and said the title was the
word for the place in the bullfighting
ring where the bull gathered strength
.... the bull's home, in a way.
The book was about him moving from here
to the New Mexico desert, for the love
of a woman. He completely freaked out
for 6 months because it was so foreign
to all of his senses. Then he found his
querencia. I found mine, too, right
where I've lived since I was born.
Irony. Living in Newton isn't like
living in a city the size of Boston.
But, no buffalo, no. Except in the
extensive options in the grocery stores.
Fresh ostrich, too, not that I ever would.
When are you going to get some sleep?
