wellbutrin and cymbalta |
has anyone tried this combination? i'd taken wellbutrin with
celexa in the past, and it was a bust. cymbalta's new enough
that i haven't tried it, especially in a combination.
my pdoc said that the big expert in boston recommended trying
this when the parnate poops out. wash out for two weeks, then go
to this combo. when it eventually poops out, go back to the
parnate. he said that this rate of poop-out is typical for mao
inhibitors. he also amended his earlier ceiling, and said we
might go up to 140mg on the parnate. the max recommended is 60,
and i'm on 120mg now. we decided, though, that this is as high
as we'll go. i already don't like taking so much.
anyway, if anyone's tried wellbutrin with cymbalta, could you
let me know what happened? curious about side-effects, etc.
thanks.

My only concern would be that you might get too much norepinephrine,
since both Wellbutrin and Cymbalta increase norepinephrine. However,
if you feel hyper, you can always reduce the dose of one of them.

last time i was on wellbutrin, alone then with celexa, i felt
terrible. i'm willing to try it again, since i didn't try
cymbalta. if need be, i'll go back to effexor and remeron,
which wasn't great, but helped. the quick wash-out of the
effexor was truly awful, though.

Getting off effexor was the slowest thing I ever did, once I realized it
was causing all the weirdness I slowed down a lot and it was easy but
slow afterwards.

i got off of 375mg effexor over ten days. that was hell. they
wanted to get me onto the maoi as quickly as possible, so they
put me into partial for the quick taper so someone could
monitor me, then in-patient when the withdrawal symptoms were
too bad. it was probably the quick remeron taper that left me
unable to sleep more than an hour a night for nine months. at
least the maoi worked...

Zing, vrow...the Effexor sound effect was the worst side effect I had
during my withdrawal.

I knew that Effexor withdrawal is supposed to be hell. I knew better than to go cold turkey without
a doctor's supervision. But I did it anyway, which goes to show that having a genius-level IQ does
not guarantee behaving intelligently.
Most people who go off Effexor have serious withdrawal effects. I was expecting it to be much worse
than it was, and I was prepared to go to the doctor for a new prescription if the effects became too
unpleasant.
I was very surprised to find that I had almost no withdrawal effects. I had slight dizziness and a
bit of ringing in the ears for perhaps a week. And then it went away. So I never got the new scrip.
When I told my doctor about it, she read me the riot act. I won't get away with this next time.
I DON'T recommend to anyone to do what I did. I was lucky. Horseshoes-up-my *****-lucky. The only
moral of my story is that with meds, YMMV.

I remember splitting open the smallest capsules and dividing the little
time release pellets into tiny piles of thirds and mixing that with
applesauce at the end. That may have been overkill but that's the degree
to which I tapered off after things started getting too strange for me
at the normal schedule. I would be sitting at the computer and trying to
chase down what fan/hard drive/speaker was making the funny noises.
