Went to the Thyroid Drs Today |
I have to have a full body scan again to test my Thyroid Uptake....
Meaning there better not be any uptake in the scan or I'm in deeeeeeep
***** with Cancer again!
Starting monday I'll be off my meds for almost five weeks in
preparation for the scan, my dr refuses to give me cytomel which is a
short acting (energy boosting) pill to ease the symptoms of no thyroid
hormone. Anyway I'm prepared for the almost three month crash that
comes with no thyroid hormone. I won't be able to put a mask on this
one!
I hate this, the anxiety that comes with the preparation and actually
testing is the pitts!
Anyway just to let you all know!

i have a young friend who has to go through this every few years as well.
she had the same cancer at age 18. there is some weird pill she has to take
if her #'s are wrong at the end of the scan. it's all terrible on her,
though, so i feel for you.

i have a young friend who has to go through this every few years as well.
she had the same cancer at age 18. there is some weird pill she has to
take if her #'s are wrong at the end of the scan. it's all terrible on
her, though, so i feel for you.
The weird pill is RAI (Radio Active Iodine) in pill form, to kill (ablate)
the left over tissues that are not dead yet. I have to do that very same
thing.

sorry to hear it, jane. at least you know it's coming and when

does not sound pleasant at all, maybe knowing it's coming
helps.
