Object: What people have in common
It's so easy I think to focus on people's differances,I think it would
be nice if everyone could be friendly to everyone else, and focus on
what people have in common.I always appreciate it when people are
friendly to me,I know it's unrealistic to expect everyone to be
friendly,no matter how nice that would be...I know often that's tough
to do,but it's a nice ideal.I remember my grampa reading from the
prayer book many years ago at my cousins's Bar Mitzvah. He read the
senatance twice because he thought it was so important. What he read
was "Let's focus not on what divides us but on what unites us"...I
think that pretty much summed up his ideals. Not that he was perfect or
anything,he has many old fashioned ideas, like many people of that
generation, but he was a real people person,he really liked people...

It's a lovely thought. But then even if two people are nice enough to
agree that they are both human beings, with many common experiences, some
differences cannot be ignored. Such as when one of them wants the other
dead.
