Object: where is all the anger on ASD coming from???
It seems that lately there's been such a large climate of anger
and suspicion and mistrust on ASD... what is it all about? are the
bonds between people really that thin and fragile and tenuous? the
attitude often seems to be not that we're a "wildly varying, diverse
group of complex, 3 dimensional people with many different sides to us
talking and relating and working through various issues", the attitude
often seems to be "I'm right, you're wrong, you are a useless *****
who I hate, and I hope you die and go to hell..." well, not always
that extreme, but things do seem very angry and polarized between
people... It is really that simple? that black and white? what
happened to the shades of gray? I don't know, it just seems that
there's not much willingness these days to discuss ideas and opinions
and differances in calm, reasonable, straightfoward manner...
everything seems to be about yelling and namecalling, and stereotyping
pigeonholing and blaming and so on...

I think it's just that time of year, I've been feeling a bit stressed,
angst, and depressed more lately, but the Holidays do that to me, so maybe
it does for other's as well.

It's not that I hate the holidays, I hate the extra crowds, I hate having to
figure out what to buy for presents, the pressure of a time line, this year
my daughter is visiting so it's added pressure to have things done before
she gets here, the added work load at work, the snowbird traffic is nuts
this time of year too (which adds to the crowds) Florida is a nightmare
this time of year.

There are some very different people in this newsgroup with
various different types of mental illness. Sometimes folk
match up, for example % and Slunky.
I tend to be a lot more open minded and forgiving than some
here, however I could name a number of posters here I don't
often agree with.

Yep, posters that tell me to FOAD come to mind.

I like you Dawggie, I enjoy a lot of your posts, but being Jewish,
I do wish that you would let go of your prejudices about Jewish
people... We are just like everyone else... to me, whatever your skin

irrelevent... my spanish teacher used to always say, we all bleed the

Meh, one mans anger is another mans passion. To be honest, I'm rather
enjoying both the Teacher and the Vitamin cure (Jesus was a vegetarian

Me too! I know I can be a bit abrasive and prickly at times, to say
the least, but people like the meat puppet in the latter thread just
deserve everything they get. I've perhaps not sat and properly defined
my attitude towards religion but I reckon a lot of my anger, passion,
whatever you want to call it comes from an intolerance of intolerance.
That kind of thing annoys the hell out of me but also raises questions
about how I behave too. More thinking and adjusting to do.

It's all those pumpkin seeds you're eating. They contain secret
enzymes about which little is known. Research continues, and you
could be extremely helpful in adding to the pumpkin seed data
currently being collected. If you suddenly find yourself with the
strong urge to do the Naked Chicken Dance with a bowl of fruit on your
head, please contact the International Pumpkin Seed Data Collection
Center. They're waiting to hear from you.
I'm still on Fred's computer on the dialup modem line, repairs to the
cable line have not yet been scheduled, and the web interface for
email that I have to use on this machine is not loading properly so I
can't use it right now. It's windy, raining and cold outside, which
isn't doing anything good for the cable line. On the other hand, the
woodstove was replenished with fuel this morning, and inside it's now
very warm and cozy and melty. It's almost *too* hot, but considering
how cold the winds blow in the outside world sometimes, I'm just going
to consider myself lucky to have my port in a storm, be grateful, and
enjoy getting lost in the melty warmth. Hope and belief seem possible
on a day like this, and that's no bollocks. I just said part because
bollocks is an extremely fun word, it makes me giggle, and I don't see
why you guys over there should get all the good words.
You don't seem so angry to me. More like fiesty and rollicking.
Jordy: I just love you. I think you're very sweet, and this place is
so much better because you're with us. I know you have the courage of
your convictions and also a curiosity about yourself and the world
that will keep you looking at things, so that when you start to feel
your perspective growing stale or stagnant, you will take a fresh look
and renew it. And I will enjoy reading about it when you do, as I
always do. You're a sweet treasure.

Things have been really hard for me this week and I'm trying to build
up my strength again. I feel pretty drained, my reserves are running
low and I felt the high protein content of something like pumpkin
seeds would get the juices flowing again. I probably need to get more
quality sleep too.

That's a shame, I had a Stephen Fry related youtube clip I was going
to post for you but it would take ages on dial-up. But, for future
reference when you get your cable back:

It's been raining here, is it wet where you are? I'm glad you're
feeling cosy and I hope you stoke that fire up really well, keep the
chill out.

Yeah, that's one of my favourite words too. I use it often, usually
when I've made a right mess of something. Bollocks is a friendly
sweary word!

I try!

thanks Bunny, that is what I try to do... I call it "borrowing"...
sometime in the early 90's Roseanne Arnold was interviewed by Barbra
Walters(I love Barbara!) and Barbara asked her what she meant by what
Roseanne called her "multiple selves"... Walters said something like
"does this mean you have multiple personalities?" my gramma who was
watching the show with me shook her said and said "no, she means that
she uses the different sides of herself when she needs to"... I
thought to myself at the times that I could relate to that... that's
what I try to do... think of a memory, a thought, a feeling, an idea,
an image etc... that I had at some time in my life, and "borrow" from
it for inspiration...
