Object: Why are people in other rooms so nasty?
I have tried to join another room besides this one. I was completely
ambushed by five people one accusing me of being a kid and asking me
dose my mother know that I'm on the computer this late and so fourth.
They have gone on and on. Mainly because of my spelling. I have looked
is there a way to do spell check on your post? Not that I should be
subject to crazy welding red penned lunatics evaluating everything I
write for god sake. Oh and my name they did not like my name. I guess
my breathing was OK thou. My sense of humor wasn't. What ever sorry
needed to vent! Pissed Tink

you can get the same results here ,
you just need to know the right people ,
i've had this same experience in every group i've ever gone to ,
even the kind souls in this group have done some evil things to me ,
take it easy , don't let it bother you , some groups take time to fit into

very true
some people are just assholes though, whether they mean to be or not
(depending on what they think they know about you), some don't have anything
else going or just get off on creating misery or drama.........good to avoid
them like the plague...
try to take it all with a grain of salt

Spelling errors on usenet...considering the forum and sometimes torrid
pace of the postings in asd, you just don't have time to care (and
shouldnt). I see them pop up inm my typing all the time and just
watch them fade to the left with no intention to backtrack.
I get "wonder" and "wander" mixed up constantly and have to stop and
think whenever I come to a there/their/they're.
I notice a lot of people fumble on "than" versus "then"...that one I'm
good with.
Notice profanity is always easy to spell.

Am sorry you are feeling this way, perhaps you should try being more
friendly. I also am aware about the Lorazepam being addictive and that
it can cause withdraw symptoms. I would make every effort not to be
oppositional and try to be friendly. Usenet isn't exactly the best
place to get help. Going to day treatment sometime wouldn't a bad idea.
Be sure to take it easy on yourself and follow the doctor's directions.

Others have said how sane this newsgroup for the insane is compared to

the way to spell check is to get newsreader software (some of
it's free) and set it up with a news server account. these
aren't chat rooms, they're usenet newsgroups. google just
offers a (very clumsy) way to access them. even outlook
express, which comes with windows, is a better program than
google groups. your isp might have its own news server. there
are many others available, some free, some with a small
charge. i pay a few dollars a year for mine.
if you decide to go this route, folks here, myself included,
can help you get set up and running.

I wish I had a spell checker, as I did when I had AOL... I'm a
terrible speller... the strange thing is that sometimes the people who
critisize other people's spelling are not the best spellers
themselves... As other people have said, all you can do is try to
ignore people when they are being mean and rude and nasty...

There's an on-line spelling checker at <http://www.spellcheck.net/> (seems
to be for US English only).
Most good newsreader programs have a built-in spelling checker, or can be
configured to use one.
Of course, spelling checkers can't correct errors with things such as
[they're|there|their] or [it's|its] or other 'wrong word' mistakes ;))

Hey, Tink. I'm back. Got over the laughing fit. But seriously, I'm
curious, what was the site where 5 people jumped on you? I should go
there and see what happens (not to cure depression, tho).
As far as I know, you're welcome to misspell words in this place.
Once you become familiar with the people who have no limits on their
obnoxiousness, on a board such as this one, you can have good
discussions and not be affected by them.
People with Borderline Personality Disorder frequently also are
depressed and are on antidepressants, and they usually say mean things,
but really can't help it, its part of the disorder. They are usually
also very nice and charming a lot of the time. Its rough to mix it up
with them when you are depressed but otherwise normal in your behavior
and interacting with others, but it really can't be avoided on an open
board like this.
There is a health message board that has very strict rules about
posting, its closely monitored, and anyone who gets nasty or mean gets
booted off. Once you register, you can choose the health topic you
want. I think it was formulated that way because of so many bad
experiences people run into who are trying to deal with a serious
issue.
Here is the URL for the health board: www.healthboards.com

Whenever I try to be humorous on a board where they don't know me,
people are very nasty about it. There seems to be a lot of suspicion
of new posters. I guess its like a bunch of chickens in a cage,
everybody has to work out the pecking order. Just be very nice to
everybody, then when they accept you, SLAM 'EM. hee hee

"Should" being the operative word. People should also be able to leave
their doors unlocked, people should let each other sanely merge in
traffic, children should eat their veggies, and everyone should vote
Republican (just seeing if anyone is reading this.)
Be decent, ignore the meanies. Mean people suck. The nature of the
medium promotes the nasty crap you see on usenet. People feel
anonymous, so it's easy to let your emotions take over and just flame
away. I think the same things happens when some people get in cars.
They unconsciously turn on the aggressive switch and then the roads
became a battleground. It's non-thinking stupidity, but that's just
what some people do.
My $.02.

I'm excited because I think I'm actually going to go to sleep at a
decent hour instead of staying up all night watching the sun rise.
Don't know what Numbers is, I don't watch Network tv, mostly news,
Discovery/History Channel/TLC/PBS stuff, and COPS.
