Wow. I have to go report for jury duty NOW. |
Last time I got called up, I was excused by the DA, and
Deminiminiminimiiii said it was because he knew I was an *****.

It IS a pretty ridiculous claim for me to try to get away with. And
to raise the stakes even higher, I will now claim that I am actually
sending this message from a public terminal in the Jury Assembly Room
in the San Mateo County Courthouse in Redwood City (home of the
miniature golf course that Robert Maas refused to meet me and Thor
at).
I'm really surprised they actually provide puters and net access. It's
interesting, looking through the browser history, I see that somebody
before me was searching for
home made cem bomb
whatever exactly that is. Now, what kind of person sits in a Jury
Assembly Room searching for information on how to make bombs?
Anyway, Redwood City is a very bland and sterile place but it does
have very nice weather, I think it won some sort of award for that.
And the government complex here is very pretty. Though this has to be
the crappiest keyboard I've ever used, it's this flat little rubber
skin called "The Virtually Indestructible Keyboard" and it's really
slowing me down.
Well! It's obviously so late in the day that if I do get impanelled it
will be for a trial tomorrow, which I wouldn't mind at all. I've
always wanted to do this, besides which I could really stand some more
time away from the office.
Hey, maybe I'll get one of those civil cases people are always
threatening to bring against people who ***** them off on Usenet! Hell,
maybe Robert Maas has filed his police report and I'll sit on the jury
of my own trial for the murder of CreamGem!

days... I always wanted to be on a jury,

I want to do jury duty, but they don't ever pick me. They did pick me
once, but the trial I was supposed to be at got pushed back so the guy
could have a mental evaluation.

I've done Austrailia's biggest heroin import, and a murder case.

It does seem though that people like that always have a few friends
that they hold onto for a while, for various reasons.... I think they
somehow satisfied people's deep seated emotional needs at times...
I guess though people like that can help you to work through various
issues... On one hand, when you can't detach yourself, you get so
angry, so furious and enraged at them, for a very, very long time...
but, maybe, at the same time, you can take the very detached parts of
yourself, and try to understand them... and of course you fail
completly, but it's interesting to try... when you see these kind of
weird, strange, crazy, over-the- top people.. you have a strange
facsination and curiosity about them, as well as a horrified
revulsion... maybe, in part, it's beacuse you see some of the same
"over-the top" weirdness in yourself... though the strange thing about
Joe User, Vali, Demi, Marty, Robert etc... is that they never seemed
to see the craziness in themselves that other people always saw in
them... or did they sometimes see it? sometimes they seemed to know
what they were doing, and sometimes they didn't... sometimes they
seemed more connected then at other times... it's very strange, very
odd, trying to figure people like that out over the internet...

Back in my day, they didn't even provide a pack of cards for whiling
away the long hours of waiting. On the second day, several of us brought
them. I played quite a lot of bridge waiting for empanelment.
