Object: Xmas Tree
I went out a bought a xmas tree today. It is in the stand in the middle of my
dinningroom. I haven't had the courage to put ornaments on it yet. My sister
and brother are going to do it with me. I fear what will happen when I start to
pull out the decorations and ornaments and it reminds me of my husband. I am
getting through everything one day at a time and I don't expect this xmas to be
easy. But if I can at least get through it with a minimal of saddness and tears
then I will feel like it was a success.
But at least the cat is happy to have a tree in the apt. She is sleeping under
it now.

That is a really good idea. I have some ornaments that are mine from childhood
still. And my sister volunteered to get all the "wedding" ornaments out of the
box so I don't have to go through those. I am looking forward to having my
brother and sister with me. I know they will do all they can to make me laugh.

then what will you do with them? destroy them? throw them away? i have
the exact same situation although I won't be bothering with a tree at
all this year.
i am packrat, though. i keep everything. i have every birthday card,
ever silly little trinket, every photo, every piece of memorabilia. what
do i do with all that stuff? pitch it? what about our wedding license,
or wedding pictures? i'm struggling with knowing what to do with all
that stuff and it's horribly painful.

I packed all the wedding stuff in a box and put it away. Some of the cards and
love notes I put in a box and gave to my husband. The ornaments will be the
same...put away in a box until I am ready to deal with them. Some of the
ornaments I will give to my husband's mom because they are his from when he was
little.
