We need them though. Someone i know got mugged outside of her house by
two 13yr old kids. There was witnesses who just watched it happen (they
twisted her hand to pull the phone out of it), and didn't do anything.
The main witness even said she didn't see anything, while standing not a
foot away, by the bus-stop.

Which is exactly why I carry a knuckleduster and a boot knife.
Incase I need to dust my knuckles and cut some boots.

Knowing my luck, i'd get caught carrying them. Besides knives scare me.
You pull a knife on someone these days and they are likely to take it
off you and give it you back point first. I used to wear a "goth-y"
bracelet which was leather and two rows of semi-pointed studs, but it
made my wrist go black. Urgh. cheap bracelets. Now i don't bother
carrying anything. If someone's going to mug me, they probably have
weapons already, and trying to pull a knife or such on them is gonna get
me "done in".
I'd love a baton though. Something you can smack them on their
hands/head and run like buggery afterwards.

A walking-stick gives some sense of confidence. I don't think I'd really
use it as a weapon though, and as for running like anything, well you can

I have thought about a walking stick, but all it takes is one cop to
watch me walk, and then go "you don't need the stick, why are you using
it". Busted. =/
I can't run either, but mostly because i'm overweight heh.

I don't think there is any law about walking-sticks (or canes or staffs)
in the UK - apart from when you take a stick from the wild on private land
(which means pretty much everywhere in the UK); then it still belongs to
the land-owner and you aren't allowed to remove it from his property
without permission. I've never heard of anyone trying to make that one
stick, for just one stick, though.
A stick or cane concealing a fire-arm or blade would constitute an illegal
weapon, of course.
The Prevention of Crime Act, 1953, defines an 'offensive weapon' as "any
article made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person, or
intended by the person having it with him for such use by him or by some
other person." I've heard of this being used to apply to a bunch of keys
or a hair-comb or a lady's hand-bag - 'intent' is what counts in such
cases. Read more here
<http://www.swarb.co.uk/acts/1953Prevention_of_CrimeAct.shtml> and here
<http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1996/1996026.htm>. Oh yes, and here
<http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A591301> of course.

ok, gonna try to hijack this thread with a personal agenda, sorry.
Kids in the uk want mobys more than freinds. Police can get away scott
free from six of them holding down a handcuffed man and beating him
whilst being caught on cctv, as well as legally arrest an 11 year old (or
anyone else) for no apparent reason under the prevention of terrorism
act. Ministers can now prevent enquiries into their departments or
withold findings should they disagree with them with no accountability or
justification.
In addition we fight wars for oil and lie about our motives. One calorie
of food could no longer be produced for less than one calorie of fossil
fuel in the 70's and now i beleive that the figure is close to 1:200.
Maximum oil production peaked for most nations over a decade ago, some
longer. Hell in a proverbial handbasket.
In this sort of frame of mind i advocate mandatory chemical sterilisation
for all criminals regardless of age and crime. It won't lower the crime
rates but we may make it to 2106 without all those people around. I also
reckon parents should need a licence to breed, failure to comply = crime
= sterilisation and abortion (this would mean i was never born btw). Yeah
and the legal limit on voluntary abortion should be raised to 729 months,
see who doesn't treat their mother well after that one's passed.
I'll regret this statement once i've calmed down but for now...

My internalisation over the years has nearly cost me everything, I have
few material goods, but they are all about work or creativity.
My mobile is 10 years old this november, I've never had a different one.
My guitar is 15 years old and I learnt to solder-repair it myself,
unfortunately I can't get my head around the amp circuits, so, well,
we'll cross that bridge when......
Anyhow, point is, it's hard to tell people that they're not really

You most certainly can. I find the solidarity implied quite touching. Now
you have you may call me anything you wish :)

"Deserve" is the most key word there and a powerful world at that.

Oddly my reaction to the last passages was to point out i have a degree
in electronics and can help with the amp stuff should, fate forbid,
anything happen and that i have an old mobile you can have. Of course my
internet paranoia would prevent all but the first in text form from
happening but responding to solidarity with solidarity is what i want to
do and i feel vaugely good about myself for that.

Free is a gimmick to get you subscribed to a call package. The
pay-as-you-go phones (i use one of them) that you top up with credit,
normally cost an arm and a leg, as you pay full wack for the phone.
Unless i'm missing something and there are free phones out there! Maybe
one that doesn't light up like a christmas tree, like mine does!

Bugger. Oh that reminds me, is there any ban on swear words in this

Buggery, Cr*p etc.

That's life though. I'm more concerned with kids stabbing people to
death for saying "hi", than ministers and what cops do to 11 year olds.
The kids who hassle my mother and me are 11, i'd like to see them locked
away. Or maimed at least.

In addition we fight wars for oil and lie about our motives. One calorie

Well, "we" (UK here) fight the recent 'wars' because America says "Come
Robin! To the Iraq-Mobile!" and we come running after, green cape flying.

Now this part is good. Sterilisation and a license to breed sounds
decent enough, especially the chav-esque females with three children in
tow, and another to go, all kicking and screaming and probably already
dressed in Burrberry, with nokia phones glued to their faces.
I don't think abortion past birth is right, but i think there should be
snatch squads, who basically drive around in an unmarked van at night,
and any kids out past a certain time (focusing mainly on the gangs)
should be hauled in, left in the cells overnight, have an official
warning, and tossed back out to the street. The second warning comes
with a jail sentence.

I'll regret this statement once i've calmed down but for now...

That's half the fun of these things!

Bugger. Oh that reminds me, is there any ban on swear words in this thing?
I don't normally swear, but i do come out with words like Damn, Buggery,
Cr*p etc.

I regularly use terms like '*****', 'babyfucker' and 'Big ***** salad', and
nobody seems to have a real problem with it.
You'll be fine! ;-)

We need them though. Someone i know got mugged outside of her house

didn't do anything. The main witness even said she didn't see
anything, while standing not a foot away, by the bus-stop.

I'm usually much more foul mouthed than that and end up having to delete
half of what i type. Consider youself forgiven and given full swearing
rights by me, I can't speak for anyone else.

Kids in the uk want mobys more than freinds. Police can get away
scott free from six of them holding down a handcuffed man and beating
him whilst being caught on cctv, as well as legally arrest an 11 year
old (or anyone else) for no apparent reason under the prevention of
terrorism act. Ministers can now prevent enquiries into their
departments or withold findings should they disagree with them with
no accountability or justification.

That's life though. I'm more concerned with kids stabbing people to
death for saying "hi", than ministers and what cops do to 11 year
olds. The kids who hassle my mother and me are 11, i'd like to see
them locked away. Or maimed at least.

I sympathise with your plight but the point i was trying to make was
about justice and was gonna lead up to how i'm wrong in later passages
because we can't trust the laws, police or lawmakers in this country (UK
also). I would fight for your right to mame the kids tho. There is also
no such thing as an innocent bystander.

In addition we fight wars for oil and lie about our motives. One
calorie of food could no longer be produced for less than one calorie
of fossil fuel in the 70's and now i beleive that the figure is close
to 1:200. Maximum oil production peaked for most nations over a
decade ago, some longer. Hell in a proverbial handbasket.

Well, "we" (UK here) fight the recent 'wars' because America says
"Come Robin! To the Iraq-Mobile!" and we come running after, green
cape flying.

I disagree in as much as that was the sole reason. We need that oil too
just as we went to war many times before for oil (WW1, many skirmishes in
middle east etc.). The american puppetry was a factor tho, i certainly
don't deny that.

In this sort of frame of mind i advocate mandatory chemical
sterilisation for all criminals regardless of age and crime. It won't
lower the crime rates but we may make it to 2106 without all those
people around. I also reckon parents should need a licence to breed,
failure to comply = crime = sterilisation and abortion (this would
mean i was never born btw). Yeah and the legal limit on voluntary
abortion should be raised to 729 months, see who doesn't treat their
mother well after that one's passed.

Now this part is good. Sterilisation and a license to breed sounds
decent enough, especially the chav-esque females with three children
in tow, and another to go, all kicking and screaming and probably
already dressed in Burrberry, with nokia phones glued to their faces.

I don't think abortion past birth is right, but i think there should
be snatch squads, who basically drive around in an unmarked van at
night, and any kids out past a certain time (focusing mainly on the
gangs) should be hauled in, left in the cells overnight, have an
official warning, and tossed back out to the street. The second
warning comes with a jail sentence.

I'll regret this statement once i've calmed down but for now...

That's half the fun of these things!

:)
Again thanks for making me feel i'm not alone, the retrospective abortion
was probably the most psycotic, was thinking of politicians at the time.
