How to Make My Web Site Fit on Other Peoples' ComputerScreens |
Friends tell me my web site ( www.worldoceanconsulting.com ) does not display
properly on their screens; that they have to scroll to the right to read and
see the whole page. ( It looks fine on my monitor, with a 1400X1050 display,
using either Firefox 1.0 or MIE 6.0 browsers). I tried to rectify this by
resizing the document window, but DW won't let me change the size from 1024X768
to, say, 800 X600. There is a DW note saying you can't resize a Document
window when it is maximized in the integrated workspace, which mine appears to
be, but I don't know to change this, i.e. 'minimize' it. Does anyone have any
ideas as to rectify the problem, especially after taking a look at my site, as
well as the source code, perhaps? Is it perhaps a question of changing the
margins?; if so, what should they be set at?

All pages on your site shrink down to less then 300px on my computer when I
resize the window (IE and Netscape) so your friends might have a problem... are
they using their PDA's to view your site? Not sure what your problem is...

since you say...

"If you want to search for such commonly asked questions and their answers go

I would say the OP needs to design his site so that is is either
flexible or so that it fits on the majority of viewport sizes.

Steve - you do know there is a very easy way to protect your graphics from
being downloaded and not have to distroy the image with those copyright tags
defacing them - right?
