Battle Cry for Theocracy

San Francisco’s SBC Park hosted a good sized christian youth rally on March
25th.

It drew little attention from local media, but perhaps it should have.
In recent weeks, BattleCry, a Christian fundamentalist youth movement,
has attracted more than 25,000 people to mega-rally rock concerts in San
Francisco and Detroit, and this weekend it plans to fill Wachovia Stadium
in Philadelphia.
The leaders of BattleCry claim that their religion and values are under
attack, but amid spectacular light shows, Hummers, Navy SEALs and military
imagery on stage, it is BattleCry that has declared war on everyone else.
Its leader, Ron Luce, insists: “This is war. And Jesus invites us to get
into the action, telling us that the violent—the ‘forceful’ ones—will lay
hold of the kingdom.
”

It’s hard to know how effective the virginity message will do against MTV
but the blood and thunder harnessing of emotion against percieved enemies
is not something to take lightly.

story affiliates herself with. If you remember the name Bob Avakian

proposed solution to the world’s ills surfacing lo these many years later.]

Why hasn’t the former spokesman for the Taliban matriculating at Yale
been beaten even more senseless than he already is? According to Hollywood,
this nation is a cauldron of ethnic hatreds positively brimming with
violent skinheads. Where are the skinheads when you need them? What does a
girl have to do to get an angry, club- and torch-wielding mob on its feet?
Coulter is still the darling of the Republicans who want a frisson of
rebellion to fill their hearts. The conveyor belt is carrying her savagery
ever closer to the center.
