Bush lauded by Medal of Honor winners
Washington, DC, Jul. 17 (UPI) -- The Bush campaign released an open letter
to veterans Saturday signed by 21 Congressional Medal of Honor winners
endorsing Bush's re-election.
"We are disturbed," they said, "that John Kerry would try to scare veterans
with his false accusations, and we are disappointed in his lack of support
for today's troops."
Kerry, they said, has "falsely" attacked the president on the issue of
veterans' benefits. "The truth is President Bush has led the way on
improving veterans' benefits, supporting our troops and restoring honor and
dignity to the White House."
The winners of the nation's highest award for valor also hit hard at Kerry's
record, citing the Massachusetts Democrat's as having voted, "against a $1.3
billion increase in veterans health care, skipped votes on concurrent
receipt and voted against funding for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq."
"While he talks a good game," they said, "Kerry's record shows he is out of
the mainstream," citing as an example Kerry's opposition to a constitutional
amendment banning desecration of the U.S. flag. Bush supports the amendment.

Atheism teaches that there is no God, hence no God-given rights. That
ideology coupled with a system that believed in the superiority of the state
at the expense of the individual was murderously synergistic.

All I have to say is www.awolbush.com.
Did Bush also release the political affiliation of the Medal of Honor
winners? How do you "win" a Medal of Honor? It seems to me that you earn
one.

charge but its linked documents refute that very charge.

So far as I know you are correct, he does not have to produce the records.
The fact he is shall we say reluctant to do so leaves the rest of us free
to reasonably question whether he did indeed fulfil his obligation.
Normally politicians flaunt their military records, that bush hides his is

If you're seeking veteran's benefits for serving in Vietnam, for
instance, you'd damn well better have proof, if your status as a veteran
is ever challenged. I expect that discharge papers are all that would
be required though. So it stands with Bush. The charge that's been
suggested is that his discharge is improper because it did not take into
account certain facts about his service, and there are at least 2
different theories about this. But nobody making the claims really has
evidence, nor do they make clear what needs to be done about it.

What was recommended back yonder (still is?) was taking a notarized
copy of "discharge papers", the DD214, to one's local court house and,
if a notarized copy is ever needed, ya can go to the courthouse and get
a copy (here it's 'bout the only thing for which there's no charge
<grin>).
The other thing is to do a Request on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
on the "public part" of the veteran's personnel file. [I have never
seen one of these so I don't know for sure what it contains. My guess
is awards and decorations, assignments and promotion info; I can't
think of anything else that John and Jane Q Public has the "legaility"
to know.]
Of course if one has his/her own records, I guess one could make all of
them public as long as there wasn't any "private" information on other
people (such as the SSN of someone who had given the GI an evaluation
report and I wouldn't publish the raters' names either).

So it stands with Bush. The charge that's been
suggested is that his discharge is improper because it did not take into
account certain facts about his service, and there are at least 2
different theories about this. But nobody making the claims really has
evidence, nor do they make clear what needs to be done about it.

Complete records - if they're indicative of honorable service - should
be made available (with those concerns for other people's privacy part
of the release).
I haven't been following this issue closely but the Texas Air Guard and
the Alabama Guard should both have records on Lieutenant George W Bush.
National Guard units - especially at the "fulltime level" - are
actually quite careful with people's records and you can take it to a
Texas Savings & Loan that anyone using the Guard to keep from serving
on active duty is gonna have whatever it takes, himself.
If there are large segments of LT Bush's military history missing - and
remember that he "jumped" thousands (I think it was) - of people to get
one of the "precious safe" Guard slots. There can be no way that
"higher-ups" didn't know exactly who and what LT George W Bush was.
And if anyone tries to say that - by some strange coincidence - both
the Alabama records and the Texas records have - oh, gee whiz! - come
up missing, that, to me, sends red flags waving.
A flyer is going to /always/ know his mechanic and his mechanic's
supervisor and the maint officer and - forty years later - a sizeable
majority of the people in a military unit where someone was at drills
for 48 weekends and 8 weeks of summer training will be able to recall
about 50% of the people in the unit at the drop of a name.
And about the same for that person at 24 weekends and 4 weeks of
training.
And if someone was excused from meetings (and made them up later),
there's going to be more paperwork available than on someone who is at
every drill and every training.
Remember all those "required briefings" where everybody is all together
for security briefings ("SAEDAAF") and safety briefings and drunk
driving classes and NBC and this briefing and that briefing?
At least with LT Bush, there is no controversy over what he did with
the medals he earned in VietNam.

I agree, up to that point. Trouble is, it also ends there unless some
constructive evidence comes to light.
Damn straight there's a ton of paperwork on every little detail,
somewhere, though.

If you're seeking veteran's benefits for serving in Vietnam, for
instance, you'd damn well better have proof, if your status as a veteran
is ever challenged. I expect that discharge papers are all that would
be required though.

I receive VA benefits.
All that was required was a copy of my DD-214, which I happened to
have.
The VA can check with the National Records people to verify that it is
in fact an actual DD-214.
I have no idea how you would get a local court house to notarize a
copy of your DD-214...

My guess
is awards and decorations, assignments and promotion info; I can't
think of anything else that John and Jane Q Public has the "legaility"
to know.]

The DD-214 tells you the years of service, schools attended, duty
station and whether you served overseas or not.
It also tells if you have an honorable discharge.

Unless you're a VIP or the son of a VIP, anyway.
But no one that is any relation to our current President was ever head
of the CIA or anything like that, right?
You gotta 214, I gotta 214, all God's chillun got 214's.
Does our President have a 214? If not then, by definition, he ain't one

I have no idea how you would get a local court house to notarize a
copy of your DD-214...

The "Clerk of the Seal" takes the seal and presses down. Then the clerk
signs across the seal.
Then - with the exception of DD214's - gets a couple dollars for each
"true copy" of the document.
Put
+"dd214" +"courthouse"
into google.com.
You should have been told about this at ETS (or whatever exit you had)
briefing.

Bush was never awol. So what is your next lie.

Prove it.

It is hard to prove a negative.

In this case, should be easy to prove, just share those military records
we've been promised. The ones that were accidently on purpose destroyed.

I'll put it in your court...

Prove he was AWOL.

Did Bush also release the political affiliation of the Medal of Honor
winners? How do you "win" a Medal of Honor? It seems to me that you earn
one.

I do not know how realiable awolbush.com is a source of information. I do
know that the authors the website are not very smart. Awolbush both
claims that George W. Bush was absent without official leave yet links to a
document showing that Bush never was AWOL and never could have been:

The purported document shows that Bush has no lost time. If Bush had no

No joke. Putting any trust in those documents and discussions is
outright and downright silly.

No kidding...see Bush isn't familiar with the term 'earning', the concept is
foreign to him. The funny thing is only 21 M.O.H. winners endorse him, out
of 132 living ones. Anyone who was not educated in Texas under Bush's
governorship can tell you thats about 16% of the living M.O.H. who endorse
Bush.
