Mayor's 'faith' proposal raises concerns

A proposed faith-based office in Lansing could help residents and community
groups secure federal funding for their programs.
But not everyone is on board with the idea of the city mixing politics and
religion, including the City Council president and the vice president of
Lansing's American Civil Liberties Union.
The plan was laid out earlier this year during Mayor Virg Bernero's State
of the City address. The City Hall-based office would be tasked with
helping local organizations identify federal funding set up by President
Bush.
