New York Thanksgiving Proclamation |
Another official state recognition of God...
Thanksgiving Proclamation - 1900
"EXECUTIVE CHAMBER
In accordance with the wise custom of our forefathers now
continued for many generations, I hereby set apart Thursday, the
twenty-ninth day of November, nineteen hundred, as a day of
thanksgiving and prayer to the Almighty for the innumerable
benefits conferred upon the citizens of this State, in common with
their fellow citizens of the whole nation during the year which has
just passed; for the material well being which we enjoy, and for the
chances of moral betterment which are always open to us.
Done at the Capitol in the city of Albany this thirteenth day of
November in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred."

It's super minor but if you're going to use that three lines as
your .sig, it would behoove you to translate
"(from which quote it taken)"
into English.

Ah.
Is this like some people have done with the
Blessings of Christianity on slavery,
slave-holding, genocide, slaughter of people "in
the way of Christians marching as to massacre"?
And then there was the Ku Klux Klan Two with
nearly all of its recruiting done in "Christian"
churches.
Perhaps I could make a collection of these
hundreds (thousands?) of quotations from
Christians explaining why they and nearly all
their Christian brethern hate, murder, lynch,
drown, beat to death, burn to death, castrate and
bother people.
Perhaps I could get a book out of it:
_Slavery Under God_
But if I quote from it, I'll be sure not to use a
line such as: "from which quote it taken".
Me go now.
