I gotta hand it to someone that I don't even know the faith of, Steve
Fossett and Virgin Atlantic. They are right now attepting to fly
around the world in a very risky air event. The tracking page for
their mission is...

....and I've been among the 24 million watching. For all I know, they
are atheists, but their courage is exciting. This reminds me of a
devotional I wrote for one of my free ebooks, 30 Days of Providence.
As you read it below, think about this. Are you seeing the problems
around you as obstacles of a God working against you, or hurdles placed
there to overcome unto His glory?
His Glory in Us
Have you ever reached a place in your walk with God that you felt you
were where God wanted you to be and were doing what God wanted you to
do, only to face an obstacle that appeared in your way to the goal that
He had given you? If you have, you are not alone.
The bible is full of stories of God's people facing obstacles, as
they traveled on the path of God's choosing. David faced a Goliath.
Daniel faced a lion's den. Samson faced enemy armies. Jesus faced the
sick and demon possessed. The early church faced a government that
wanted to snuff them out.
However, that was not the end of the story. David beat the giant.
Daniel got out of the lion's den. Samson defeated the enemies. Jesus
restored the sick and demon possessed. Finally, the early church
survived its' attackers and grew.
In fact, if it were not for those events, we wouldn't be talking
about those historical characters. We know God gives strength and
protection from reading about David. We know that God delivers from
reading about Daniel. We know that God gives victory from reading about
Samson. We know that God frees and heals us from reading about Jesus.
Finally, we know that God sustains from reading about the early church.
So, we can see that God allowed (and in fact brought) those challenges
to those figures to give them victory and God glory. It was all a part
of God's plan for their success.
How do you get honor without effort? How do you get respect without
action? How do you get victory without a challenge? God has a plan to
honor Himself in your life. What hurdles has God put on your life's
racetrack to overcome to His glory?
