Oh, dear. The Runaway Bride Has Been Charged!! |
The runaway bride has been charged.
I'm not sure that I can handle this, this makes me so sad, what is a man to do?
I feel that the only choice I have is to write to Bush and ask for a full pardon.

Bush cannot pardon people accused of state offenses.
But not to worry, the governor of Georgia is a
fellow "tough on crime" Republican, so I am sure
a pardon is in the works.

I doubt they will put her in jail. Personally I think she needs to pay back
the money that the states spent looking for her. And she also needs a
shrink.

That NeoCon puppet will do nothing of the sort.

Why? She didn't set up any search. She didn't lead anyone to believe she
had been kidnapped or otherwise taken/harmed. She simply walked out the

Exactly. If not to flee prosecution or to perpetrate a fraud,
every adult has the right to take off suddenly, tell no one, and
even cover his or her tracks. That's not very nice if you are
leaving people behind who will worry and who will try to get
people - even the police - to look for you. But it's legal, and
that's a good thing. We don't want to open a can of worms
involving who you would have to tell and how much you have to
tell them.
But when you make a false report of a crime, you've crossed the
line.

All of that is true. A false report of a crime is itself a crime,
because of the expense, diversion of resources, etc. Not to say that
all such reports should be prosecuted, it depends on the details. In
this case, sure, throw the book at her.
But there's something that bugs me. I don't know the exact timeline,
and I might be wrong on this, but didn't her family and friends report
her missing, assuming that she was a victim of foul play? That is, she
didn't make the false report that sent everybody out looking for her.
When she finally showed up, she first said she was a kidnap victim but
within hours had admitted the truth.
In other words, the police made their search based on a report from her
family, not from her. There really was not much time for them make any
kind of search between her own false report and her confession. So how
can the authorities come up with any kind of monetary figure?
I'm not saying go easy on her, it's just curious.

She should pay for it all, if she had not made a false report, then fine,
but once she broke the law, she should be held responsible for all the
expenses. I bet you think the get-away driver for a bank robbery should only
be charged with speeding.

street.
Except that *I'm* not the one that is likely to simply lie about it
without y'all admitting that dishonesty is a bad thing -- look at what
happened when I documented "jack's" forgery: you all continued to
support it. Why should I bother if you're going to do the same again?
And you've been running for *years* from yours, so you get to go
first.

But I really don't care enough to find out.

And I can't believe you lied twice about, and still think it makes no

I'm not sure that I can handle this, this makes me so sad, what is a man to do?
I feel that the only choice I have is to write to Bush and ask for a full pardon.
You know there is something seriously wrong with that woman if her idea
of getting away was going to Albuquerque, NM of all places! Anyway,
putting her in jail is a lame idea, she just needs some mental floss.

She's also negotiated a $13K fine for one of the charges.
There still a few more to settle.
There goes the wedding dowry. Will have wed in Vegas then
if hubby was sincere.
