Gray,
here's a bit of data about one Danny Bubp,
the "Colonel" Jean Schmitd claimed told her to tell
Congressman Murtha he was a coward.
I thought maybe you'd know somewhere that might
be a proper place to dump it.
In the interest of easing the pain in the *****
with long urls and word wrapping, I tried to
flag and add tinyurls after the potential buggers.
cheers...

Who is this "Marine Colonel"
that would proxy his insult to a Retired Marine Colonel
through an Ohio political hacktress mudhen?
Ms. Schmidt:
Yesterday I stood at Arlington National Cemetery
attending the funeral of a young marine in my district.
He believed in what we were doing is the right thing
and had the courage to lay his life on the line to do it.
A few minutes ago I received a call from
Colonel Danny Bop, Ohio Representative from
the 88th district in the House of Representatives.
He asked me to send Congress a message: Stay the course.
He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message,
that cowards cut and run, Marines never do.
Danny and the rest of America and the world want
the assurance from this body - that we will see this through.

Colonel Bupb is it?
Serving as a Ohio State politician?
Nice Assignment...
Danny Bubp is a newly elected Republican member (2004) of Ohio's
State House from the 88th district, which is a part of Jean
Schmidt's US House of Representatives, 2nd Ohio District.
Danny it seems used a free Yahoo/Geocities website for his
campaign. (Even more remarkable about this is the claim at the
bottom of the next link that it was paid for by the Bubp Election
Campaign Committee)
On this website's biography page for Bubp is listed his military
service:

I am sure you get a very good picture of good ole Dannyboy here.
Here's a mention of Bobp in the Cincinnati Post Christmas, 2003:
----------------
Danny Bubp, a West Union attorney and a
Marine Corps Reserve colonel who is not going to Iraq,
said about 300 people recently turned out at a rally
for local troops headed for Iraq.
"There is much anxiety, worry and concern," he said.
"People know we're losing a soldier just about every day
in Iraq. "There's been a lot of tears, a lot of emotion
and a lot of support for these men."
--------------
"Home this Christmas: The Ohio Guard's 216th may be in Iraq
this time next year, though",

For a bit of comparison, Murtha, left college after his first year
in 1952 to join the Marine Corps and serve in Korea. His first
stint of active duty continued until 1959 in which he advanced to
become a Parris Island DI, and on through OCS, whereupon his first
assinment was to the 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North
Carolina. In 1959 when Captain Murtha became a reservist, he took
command of the 34th Special Infantry Company, Marine Corps
Reserves, in Johnstown, PA, a positition he held until
volunterring for active service and Vietnam duty in 1966. Murtha
received multiple commendations for his Vietnam service which
included two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star with Combat "V" and the
Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After returninfg from Vietnam
Murtha remained a reservist until 1990, and he retired at
the rank of Colonel.
Bubp has a recent history of using the Marine Corps Uniform
for transparent political electioneering purposes in the USA.
Isn't this a violation of some sort, for a reservist?
Later in the afternoon, the Schmidt campaign staged a
"Support Our Troops" rally in Union Township's
Veterans Memorial Park, where about 50 people gathered
under the park's Vietnam-era medical evacuation
helicopter to hear speech-making by Schmidt and some
of her supporters, including Glenda Kiser of Amelia,
the mother of Sgt. Chuck Kiser, an Army reservist
killed last year in Iraq.
The event was billed as a rally to honor veterans and
local residents serving in Iraq, but much of the
speech-making - particularly from State Rep. Danny
Bubp, R-West Union - consisted of criticizing Hackett,
an Iraq war veteran, for his differences with
President Bush and the administration's policies in
Iraq.
Bubp - who, like Hackett, is a Marine Corps Reserve
officer - stood under the helicopter's wings in his
military dress uniform, saying that the one thing
military officers do not do "is criticize their
commander in chief."
"I served for eight years under a president who
loathed the military but we never said a word about
it," Bubp said.
Max Cleland, the former Democratic senator from
Georgia who lost both legs and an arm serving in
Vietnam, campaigned again with Hackett Sunday and said
the Republicans' criticism of Hackett was "just
wrong."
"They say they support the troops," Cleland said, "but
they won't support this troop."

You should have seen Colonel Danny Bubp in his full
dress Marine uniform. The white gloves, spit shined
shoes, and chest full of metals were very impressive.
We were at a "Party for The President" in Batavia.

I ran into an unchecked blog reference that claimed
Ole Danny B. is a bit of a fibber about his being
a Naval War College Graduate too:
As for the Naval War College graduate, he is not.
He took a 2-week course at the college
as part of his reserve duty; nothing more, nothing less.
Yet he misrepresents that he is a "graduate".
