Since I'm not a professional educator I won't debate your "expertise" on the

(as an educatee) the majority of people who are guilty of "censorship,

the ivory halls of academia, then in the hallowed walls of the Church ( in

Yeah...that's better. I don't mean to seem anally retentive or come off
like a wanna be netcop...but
it looks *really* bad when you're talking about how you have a million years
experience as an educator (K-12)
and you keep misspelling stuff...It leads to the conclusion that it's not
the kid's fault they're getting dumber.
Now here's a real question for you. Maybe it'll remind you that you are an
educator and you'll quit acting like a schoolboy with a grudge...
My 3½ year old is about ready to start day care/pre-school (because the
powers that be have made kindergarten mandatory when the kids are 4..so it's
time to socialize)
Would you recommend any material (books, software, etc.) to facilitate the
process for him (and me)?

Really? You can't start Kindergarten in NSW, Oz till you are 4 and a half.
Nothing mandatopry before then. I wouldn't worry until he is 5 ... and since
he is a boy that would depend upon his month of birth and maturity level.
Hard to say what to do wiuth the little information you have given.

What information do you need. He's a 3½ year old boy. Intelligent. Cute.
Here, take a look at him:

His month of birth? What are you on, astrology?
He's a gemini...(like daddy baba) he'll turn 4 in May and school starts in
August or September.
So I gotta put him in day care/pre-school now to acclimatize him b4 then.
He has and can almost operate his own computer with several mickey mouse
type preschool games,
can use tools like screwdrivers and adjustable wrenches...(I haven't taught
him how to change a tire or load the shotgun yet..;-)
He can assemble his Thomas the Train track on his own...and drive his r/c
dump truck over Bob the Builder...
WHATTA YA WANNA KNOW?

Nope. Maturity is important for this age boy if you don't want him to have
problems at school.
He's a gemini...(like daddy baba) he'll turn 4 in May and school starts in

A May birth! Not a good idea to start him before the next year unless he is

I'd say he's advanced..at least above average in IQ, but he lacks
socialization skills with children.
I have no problem with homeschooling him until he's five, but it doesn't
work that way.

And it just became a law (not sure if that's state law or municipal..I'll

that if your child is 4 by when school starts, he or she has to be there.
Compulsory...( I love that word..it's so compelling..makes me wanna be

There are long lines to get into school and if one doesn't matriculate the
child before capacities are full
the child must be sent to a private school.

The new law, as far as I can tell, is not "compulsory". It is
"universal" - the state will pay for up to 3 hours of preschool for
all 4 years olds, but it is up to the parents whether to participate.
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/13498667.htm
Per state law 1003.21, the age of compulsory education is still 6 in
Florida, so even kindergarten is technically optional. That law has
not changed.
