Article with information about the free iPods and whether or not
they're legit...
http://myblogtastrophe.blogspot.com/2005/06/free-ipod-myth-scam-or-reali
ty.html
According to that ridiculously transparent propaganda, no. According to real
life, yes. The 'blog' article you posted focuses on two strawmen as its means
of demonstrating that the offer isn't a 'scam'. #1) the article repeatedly
assures the reader that a free Ipod will indeed arrive at someone's door if all
the prerequisite hoops are jumped through - as if the 'controversy' about this
scam was that people were concerned that there were no free Ipods being mailed
out, when in fact, that hasn't been an issue since the first day someone
received their Ipod. #2) the article repeatedly assures the reader that it
can't be a 'scam' because it's not a 'pyramid' or 'MLM' deal. Again, nobody
who can read the sign-up instructions would charactarize this as a 'pyramid' or
'MLM' model, so why are they making such a fuss about assuring people it isn't?
Because it's a diversionary strawman. The 'Free Ipod' offer isn't a scam
because it's a 'pyramid', or because people don't recieve Ipods if they
complete the scam, the 'Free Ipod' offer is a scam because for every one person
that gets a free Ipod, five people don't. Those five people CAN'T get a Free
Ipod after they've participated in helping someone else get a free Ipod. If
they COULD get a free Ipod by signing up more customers under them, then it
WOULD be an MLM/pyramid scam. But since the 5 suckers aren't even allowed to
suck people in under them, this scam is actually WORSE than a pyramid scam.
Sure, it's great if you can convince 5 suckers to waste several hours helping
you get your free Ipod, but realistically, how many of us are going to have
access to 5 suckers?

I will sell you my mailing list of suckers for $50.00.
You can resell it to five friends and start raking in the bucks.
