Here is a good web site that illustrates the acceleration
away from the Republican party. At this point there are only
two states where there is a majority who favor corrupt

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/11/18/91619/117
It looks like there aren't many "red" states and that the
number of blue states is increasing at a rapid pace.
What dailykos doesn't mention is that Democrats have even lower approval
ratings than Republicans.
Democrats sure do like to complain but never offer any solutions.

It's ILLEGAL to deliver letters and magazines for the price the USPS
charges. The last time somebody tried it they were shut down by the
government. How could any private company compete with the USPS when the
federal government bans all competitive pricing for letters and magazines
and doesn't collect any taxes from the USPS while happily collecting taxes
from UPS and FedEx? And even with all this government help the USPS is
still operating at a loss nearly every year.
Ray, you are the epitome of a hypocrite. You whine and ***** about
corporations receiving government subsidies yet when it comes to the Post
Office, which is a government run and subsidized corporation, you rush to
defend it. You must be really afraid of losing your government security
blanket.

So the law says. Read the Private Express Statutes.
The Private Express Statutes consists of 18 US Code § 1693 through sec. 1999

Regulations Parts 310 and 320. These forbid all carriage and delivery of mail

you'd be dirt poor and working for subsistence wages.
According to your logic everybody should be making minimum wage.
Everybody gets paid what they are worth. You need to learn about
basic supply and demand.
The president doesn't get paid what he is worth - otherwise
he would be paying money to the government instead of
collecting a check.
Government jobs are not subject to the open market since they do
not produce anything and are not competitive.
What a stupid statement. Of course government workers produce.
Of course they're competitive.
Oh really? Who does the Post Office compete against?
FedEx. UPS. Airborne. DHL.
None of which are legally allowed to deliver mail to your mailbox or
deliver first class mail.
What a pathetic attempt at weaselling. All can deliver any kind of
mail to your home.
Wrong. The post office has a monopoly on all first and third class mail
(magazines, catalogs, etc). There is no equivalent to first class mail with
any private company.
That fact that they can't put it into the mailbox matters not at all.
The fact that they're not allowed to call it "first class" matters even
less.
Oh sure, you can send a letter using the UPSP, UPS, or FedEx. But if you
want to send it by UPS or FedEx, federal law states that you must pay at
least $3 for delivery and must be sent Express. Of course the Post Office
is not required to pay any of the federal or state taxes that businesses
are required to pay, demonstrating yet another way the government unfairly
supports the USPS monopoly.
Why don't *you* try starting a mail delivery service that delivers letters
for 37˘ and see what happens. Lysander Spooner started a mail delivery
service in the 1800s that competed with the United States Post Office by
providing lower rates. He was shut down by the U.S. government and
exhausted his resources trying to defend what he believed to be his right
to compete.

can offer "free" tuition by way of your tax dollars taken by force? Private
schools have no such option. of course the willingness of parents to pay
thousands of dollars to send their children to private schools when they

And private schools are only supposedly 'better' because of the smaller

Depends on your view of "supposedly" I guess. Smaller class size is
true. You must combine with that, a more academic curriculum (no social
training/engineering), higher rates of college acceptance and attendance
(post-secondary), better SAT and ACT scores, better standardized test
results and more motivated (actively involved) parents as a whole

What?
Religious schools don't spend a lot of time in social/
training engineering? How about private military academies?
Or Waldorf education?
I'd say that both do, even at the expense of academics if
need be. In fact, children get shipped off to both types of
indoctrination because the parents are convinced that they
*want* them to have this particular form of social engineering.
In fact, most private schooling, in my experience, involves
parents trying to keep kids from learning things, or to
achieve a specific indoctrination of their kids, rather than
in providing a factually geniunely superior education.

Not true across the board. Waldorf kids in particular
may not do well at all.

whole
Yeah, Joe Stalin was actively involved in the lives of
his subjects too, screening everything that they could
read or hear and trying to indoctrinate them into a specific
belief pattern.
Yet that's a good thing when parents get to play Joe Stalin
over their kids, with the kids having no sayso whatsoever
in the future of what they will be able to learn and be
exposed to?

This is as it should be. The Republicans have made a general
mess of almost everything since 2001 and it is time that we
start setting things straight again.
What a wonderful gift it would be if every Republican
representative in every district were defeated. That would
tend to show that the elections over the past few years have
been true flukes in the system.
And if the Senate were thrown in as well, then we can really
start to restore this nation.

Here is a good web site that illustrates the acceleration
away from the Republican party. At this point there are only
two states where there is a majority who favor corrupt
Republican politics.

It looks like there aren't many "red" states and that the
number of blue states is increasing at a rapid pace.
What dailykos doesn't mention is that Democrats have even lower
approval ratings than Republicans.
It's always safest to assume that a republican is lying.
Indeed, 55 percent of Americans in this ABC News/Washington Post
poll say they'd like to see the Democrats take control of Congress
in 2006. And if the election were today, registered voters would
favor the Democrat in their congressional district by 52 percent to
37 percent.

You could only begin to restore this nation if you got rid of the
Democrats as well.
After all, we can see how well anarchy has worked in places like
Somalia.

Ray seems to think that the Republicans and the Democrats are the only two
political parties in the world.

Only those that have sympathies for Republicans.
Face it, a third party will never successfully compete. The
system has to be fixed rather then disassembled.

Our present President is the beneficiary of what
was once a "third party".
Abraham Lincoln was the first President to be elected as a member
of the Republican Party.

That was a long time ago and much has changed since then.
For the most part the people who run on 3rd party tickets
generally represent fringe groups and really can't be taken
seriously. Witness the libertarian and green party
candidates whose poor showing in the last few elections can
only be considered an embarrassment for the nut cases that
urged them to run in the first place.
