Supreme Court Justice Reveals Death Threats |
When it comes to the daily News items I post I don't verify or vouch for
them. I let whoever wrote them make valid points or make a fool of
themselves. I gather and post them to let people see what is out there on
both sides of the issue.
I post them to inform without commentary and to let others see the
valid and the off the wall that appear from various sources.
I include the source and a URL so that anyone can get to the
original source and if they feel inclined to do so, challenge anything in
the article directly with the author.

Supreme Court Justice Reveals Death Threats
By GINA HOLLAND, AP
WASHINGTON (March 15) - Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
said she and former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor have been the targets
of death threats from the "irrational fringe" of society, people
apparently spurred by Republican criticism of the high court.
Ginsburg revealed in a speech in South Africa last month that she and
O'Connor were threatened a year ago by someone who called on the
Internet for the immediate "patriotic" killing of the justices.
Security concerns among judges have been growing.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter joked earlier this year that
Justice John Paul Stevens should be poisoned. Over the past few
months O'Connor has complained that criticism, mainly by Republicans,
has threatened judicial independence to deal with difficult issues
like gay marriage.

Good. The government needs to fear the people it serves.
That's why there were about six of us remaining seated and in shock while the
other students - about 60 or 70 (school cafeteria) - this was on 22 November
1963 - stood up and cheered the news of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy's
death.
"The *****-lover is dead."
"That's what should happen to all communists."
"Serves that (unintelligible) right."
That's your peer group although they may be a little bit "conservative" for
you, Deuteros; they didn't do the actual assassination but were just
"fellow-travelers" while you appear to be more of a cheerleader.
They "cheered on" murder.
As you're doing. Do you always buy your clothes at "Banana Republic" or is
that your tatoo?
You probably still don't understand.
You have the same beliefs as any other murderer and the same disdain for
anyone else.

This is become absolutely terrifying. Everything America stands for is now
under attack by insane fascist rightards who consider our basic principles
of separation of powers and checks and balances to be un-American.
To any rightards literate enough to read this: You hate checks & balances
now because they hinder your attempts to impose the entire Republican agenda
on America, so imagine a near future where radical leftists gain control of
Congress and the existing conservative and moderate Supreme Court justices
are striking down most of their extremist legislation as unconstitutional.
The leftists will condemn the judiciary and demand it be abolished or at
least have its members replaced with pro-left judges who will uphold the
legislation, and of course you then will be defending the idea of checks &
balances with an almost religious fanaticism.

The Repubs are not "rightards". The only difference between the Dems
and Repubs is the amount and brand of socialism they're after. They are
both big government leftists and socialists. They are both close to the
Nazis who left nominal property ownership in the hands of the people but
through laws, regulations, and taxation controlled everything the owners
did. The Dems give the appearance that they are for the poor and
unfortunate while the Repubs are interested in supporting the
multinational corporations and military industrial complex.
