Thank WHO (Official Thanksgiving Proclamations), Part 12 |
2nd state for the day...
Louisiana - 18th state
State Motto: "Union, Justice, and Confidence"
Thanksgiving Proclamation - 1904
"HOWEVER widely the people of this great country may differ in matters
social, political and economical, there is one altar around which all
may meet in fraternal communion--the altar of Almighty God, the
Creator and Ruler of the Universe. The custom of annually setting
apart a Day of Thanksgiving on which all may gather in their homes and
places of worship and make acknowledgment to Him for his manifold
blessings and benefactions to mankind constitutes not only a tribute
to the omnipotence of God, but a recognition of His directing
influence in tracing the destiny of the world.
"During the past year Louisiana has been singularly blessed by
Providence. The richest gifts of the soil have been hers; business has
prospered within her borders; labor has reaped the just reward of
honest toil; there has been increased production in factory and field,
and her people have made gigantic strides in the march of human
progress.
"In all this we can distinctly trace the hand of Him who "doeth all
things well." It is eminently fitting, therefore, that in addition to
keeping Him "enshrined within our hearts," we should give proper
public expression to our gratitude for His goodness and mercy. In
conformity with the proclamation of the President of the United
States, and by virtue of the power vested in me, I, NEWTON GRAIN
BLANGHARD, Governor of the State of Louisiana, do by these presents,
designate Thursday, November 24, 1904, as Thanksgiving Day, and I
earnestly recommend that during the whole of that day the people of
Louisiana suspend, as far as is practicable, their usual business
avocations, and, in their homes and houses of worship devote
themselves to such services and ceremonies as will appropriately
express their thanks to God for His many and gracious gifts vouchsafed
us during the past year.
"In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be
affixed the Great Seal of the State of Louisiana."

In your delusional thinking! There are thousands of god beliefs and
religions.
Which one is the real and true one???
Why would any real god permit all these fakes and the misleading of his
creations?
Gods are purely the creations of men. There is NO OBJECTIVE VERIFIABLE
EVIDENCE
that any gods actually exist except in the imagenitive minds of men.
