Thank WHO (Official Thanksgiving Proclamations), Part 4 |
I will be going through official thanksgiving proclamations, through
out the month of November. After all, if they start Halloween shows
and events in September, it must be time to start Thanking God.
(From my own book, A Nation Under God)...
Delaware - 1st state
State Motto: "Liberty and Independence"
Thanksgiving Proclamation - 1910
"Ever mindful of the Source whence come all our blessings, we lift up
our hearts in gratitude to Almighty God for His goodness and mercy.
"The passing year came with the blossom of promise, and has lavished
upon us the bloom of fulfillment. Health and prosperity have blessed
the people. The homes have abounded in rich content. The various
industries have flourished. The fields have smiled a golden harvest.
"And therefore, in recognition of His faithful care, as well as in
conformity with the recommendation of the President of the United
States. I, Simeon S. Pennewill, Governor of the State of Delaware, do
set apart Thursday, November 24th instant, as a Day of Thanksgiving
and Prayer; and do recommend that the people of this State on that day
refrain from their usual vocations, and in their homes and places of
worship, render thanks unto God for His manifold blessings, and
prayers for the continuance of His Divine favors."
