Today's Founder Quote: Liberals are once again reminded that America is a Constitutional Republic, not a Populist Democracy |
Today's Founder Quote:
"That, as a republic is the best of governments, so that particular
arrangements of the powers of society, or, in other words, that form of
government which is best contrived to secure an impartial and exact
execution of the laws, is the best of republics."
--John Adams
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is
wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
--John Adams
"The retired four-star Navy admiral was the chief cheerleader for Bill
Clinton's policy of 'engaging China' by giving the communists guided tours
of America's military bases. He considers the PLA officers to be "lao
pengyou," or old friends. Prior to his appointment as US ambassador,
Prueher was commander of all US forces in the Pacific (CINCPAC). Admiral
Prueher was famous for his numerous trips to Beijing to visit his PLA
buddies and for his hospitality in showing America's military secrets to the
communists."

Unfortunately laws preventing rocketry science didn't seem to bother
President Clinton from ignoring objections from his own staff, the DOJ, DOD
or even the (blanking) Commerce Department who was authorized by executive
order to teach the ChiComs to target Chicago...which they have.

Please don't pass along any of The Wild Man's URLs unless you have verified
them because he is no longer in domestic shortwave radio and he has taken
down most of the radio-related material in favor of his new 30-minute a day
teevee show.
The use of "AFN" was in extremely bad taste by Rick Wiles as AFN has, for
decades, been the Armed Forces Network (as well as AFRTS).
I've gotten into hundreds of hours of The Wild Man's domestic shortwave radio
program since, roughly, when it started (he even sent me a very nice e-mail
for having his show in my my sw logs which I published (still do but I
haven't been able to update them lately).

Because you're so obviously superior to mehums?
Because you advocate putting "an end

Ah, yes. The superior mind of Commie Boy/Girl/thingie finally realized
her/his/its superiority over us scum.

On Sun, 5 Oct 2003, CB again apes federalist.com and posts, without
citation and ripped from context:
Today's Founder Quote:
"That, as a republic is the best of governments, so that particular
arrangements of the powers of society, or, in other words, that form of
government which is best contrived to secure an impartial and exact
execution of the laws, is the best of republics."
--John Adams
It's from John Adams, Thoughts on Government, Apr. 1776Papers 4:86--93=20
context:
=2E.. We ought to consider, what is the end of government, before we
determine which is the best form. Upon this point all speculative
politicians will agree, that the happiness of society is the end of
government, as all Divines and moral Philosophers will agree that the
happiness of the individual is the end of man. From this principle it will
follow, that the form of government, which communicates ease, comfort,
security, or in one word happiness to the greatest number of persons, and
in the greatest degree, is the best.
All sober enquiries after truth, ancient and modern, Pagan and Christian,
have declared that the happiness of man, as well as his dignity consists
in virtue. Confucius, Zoroaster, Socrates, Mahomet, not to mention
authorities really sacred, have agreed in this.
If there is a form of government then, whose principle and foundation is
virtue, will not every sober man acknowledge it better calculated to
promote the general happiness than any other form?
Fear is the foundation of most governments; but is so sordid and brutal a
passion, and renders men, in whose breasts it predominates, so stupid, and
miserable, that Americans will not be likely to approve of any political
institution which is founded on it.
Honor is truly sacred, but holds a lower rank in the scale of moral
excellence than virtue. Indeed the former is but a part of the latter, and
consequently has not equal pretensions to support a frame of government
productive of human happiness.
The foundation of every government is some principle or passion in the
minds of the people. The noblest principles and most generous affections
in our nature then, have the fairest chance to support the noblest and
most generous models of government.
A man must be indifferent to the sneers of modern Englishmen to mention in
their company the names of Sidney, Harrington, Locke, Milton, Nedham,
Neville, Burnet, and Hoadley. No small fortitude is necessary to confess
that one has read them. The wretched condition of this country, however,
for ten or fifteen years past, has frequently reminded me of their
principles and reasonings. They will convince any candid mind, that there
is no good government but what is Republican. That the only valuable part
of the British constitution is so; because the very definition of a
Republic, is "an Empire of Laws, and not of men." That, as a Republic is
the best of governments, so that particular arrangement of the powers of
society, or in other words that form of government, which is best
contrived to secure an impartial and exact execution of the laws, is the
best of Republics. ...

Allegedly from John Adams'Oct. 11, 1798 Address to the
military, text of which seems to be most elusive.
This address may very well be the source of this quote, but context is
questionable until the text of the address turns up.
Do you happen to know where the text resides?
The following provides a little bit more of the context, but Staver and
others don't seem to like it, as they appear to edit it out.
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human
passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge,
or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as
a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and
religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
