Assuming any of this has a basis in reality, are you suggesting that
consumer electronics is as black-dominated as say professional basketball?
Sorry, I really don't have time for racists.

No, it was built before I got there, but is was an innovative
communication system for the time frame it was designed and built. I
did use it, though. It was expanded to feed Ft greely, and all of our
telephone, teletype and radio network feeds were delivered by that over
the horizon microwave system.

Umm.. actually the history of the Walkman is widely known. The idea of
a small pocket-sized cassete player came from Sony co-founder Masaru
Ibuka. With enthueastic support from his partner Akio Morita he pitched
the idea to Kozo Ohsone who was then head of Sony R&D. Ohsone's
philosophy is "try before you criticize" so, even with a lot of people
being skeptical, he assembled a team to develop the Walkman according
to Ibuka's specification. (also it was his boss's idea - what choice
did he have?).
So the Walkman was Ibuka's idea developed by Ohsone and marketed by
Morita. None of them were of African descent. And certainly none of
them were American.

Nope, that's wrong, it was invented by RCA, and sold to Sony,
http://news.com.com/5208-7355-0.html?forumID=1&threadID=11069&messageID=84727
Oops, wrong, it was invented by the prolific Jerome H. Lemelson,
http://web.mit.edu/invent/iow/jerry.html
Whoa, that's wrong too, it was actually first invented by Brazilian
Andreas Pavel in 1972, who battled Sony for 25 years to finally get
$10M and full proper official recognition as the inventor in 2003.
(For those doing the math, Sony began selling the Walkman in 1979.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Pavel
"The settlement grants Pavel the recognition from Sony that he was
the original inventor of the Walkman; this apparently could only be
achieved after the death of Akio Morita, the founder of Sony and
previously-recognized creator of the personal stereo."
