Americans United has written to you several times discussing the
importance of defeating the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme
Court. We thank you for the action you have taken in response to our
requests. It is now clear a filibuster effort is advancing to keep
Judge Alito off the Supreme Court. It is imperative that Senators hear
from constituents that Judge Alito needs to be filibustered. Call the
capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 to urge your Senators to support
the filibuster!
A Supreme Court justice has an extraordinarily powerful role in this
country--the ability to have the final say on so many matters that
affect rights, freedoms and the future of this country for decades to
come. Judge Alito would have a devastating effect on religious liberty
and the separation of church and state were he to be confirmed to the
Supreme Court. As he has shown time and time again during his lengthy
career, Judge Alito views the First Amendment as placing few
limitations on the ability of the far religious right to use the
government to advance its narrow religious views, even at the expense
of the freedom of religious minorities. Replacing Justice Sandra Day
O'Connor with Judge Alito would fundamentally alter First Amendment
law and immediately put at risk many of the crucial protections for
religious minorities that the Supreme Court has recognized and
consistently enforced during the past sixty years.
Judge Alito's brand of Establishment Clause jurisprudence would bring
about radical results, with devastating consequences for the
separation of church and state as we know it. Please call your
senators at 202-224-3121 to urge them to join the filibuster of Samuel
Alito.

I hope that the looney tune brain dead loser lib dems follow your
advice. A filibuster attempt by the kook loons will be the best
thing to happen to the right thinking Republicans and by extension
the US.
