Uttering the Word 'Sambo' |
A White school administrator in Longview, Texas, Debby Deck, has been forced
to apologize and has been placed on leave for one week after using the word
'Sambo' in a teachers' workshop discussion. The word was not used in a
derogatory fashion and did not refer to a specific person.

mmm, so it would have been alright if she did the same thing using the
following words:
"*****", "*****","wop", "beaner", etc...
No, one would think that in this age of "political correctness" that
you would be intelligent enough to know that such a word would get you
in trouble.
I am not offended by her use of the word as I am incredulous that she
is so surprised that she got into trouble.
Maybe she is racist or maybe she is not... I tend to believe that she
is not, but rather is pretty naive.

Why not? What's the big problem with saying what you really mean,
in the most descriptive termz possible?

Because name calling does nothing but agitate the other person and
does NOT communicate specifically what is making YOU angry enough to
call someone a name.
Quite simple and I am surprised with your superior intellect you could
NOT understand this. Amazing...

The purpose of speech is communication. Strong words more effectively
get the point across (even if you have to issue a phony apology
afterwards):

was handled by a stand-in host Monday.

It may be because "makemyday" is a racist loser who has to make himself feel
superiors by putting other people down.
