Today, I
give thanks to Honda etal for the obvious.
I just read the pertinent Associated Press article in the real
newspaper , virtually <www.ajc.com>, dated 18 Nov 05--good luck
retrieving it from wherever for yourself.
I do not perceive the U.S. would currently
be losing face, butt, legs, lives and the national treasury if Ford,
GM, Chrysler etal had done the concept and/or other alternatives
decades ago, though now it may be too late,
as the Saudi regressive religionists have so intensively, effectively &
crazily
spread/perpetrated hatred of Western ways to the point of literal
suicide.
Do you understand what I'm implying about Madness?
Meanwhile:
The merged remnants of the ole "Seven Sisters"/oil industry will
seemingly be doing whatever they can to suppress and delay innovation,
because that's what powerful bidnesses do when they can't beat
innovation/competition "fairly."
Idiot politicos and selfish bizness jerks have failed the USA since
1973 when troubling
visions of "jihad utilizing oil" was apparent to me (& surely many of
ye).
I perceive the Yom KIppur War as a war of judgment/destiny, and it's
consequences are
Bin Ladenism: Lose-Lose: Decline-Decline. Suicide-Bombing as the 21st
century metaphor (or whatever).
Today I see the USD and the petrol USD (trillions of USD debt)
so interdependent that I truly fear the US cannot kick addiction any
more than a junkie can quit drugs, nicotene etal.
These are my opinions, and what I've feared for at least 33 years.
But, thanks to Honda and Toyota for innovative solutions (Prius etal).
Bill Ford, I await your advertising boasts' fulfillments.

I've never bought into this conspiracy.
If a legit alternative energy source really did come along....there's
no way the oil companies could stop it.
Fact is oil is still the cheapest way to go.
"Oh but the oil lobby is paying off our congressmen so that the
government won't fund research into
alternative energy technologies."
Perhaps......but government funded competition is hardly "fair"
competition, is it ?
What the anti-oil crowd wants is for government to destroy the oil
industry.
Why not just come right ouit and say it ?
About the automobile companies......another unpleasant fact.......they
fill holes.
People go to a lot to buy a car, they have the choice of buying
big/powerful ones, medium sized, or small/fuel efficient ones.
When that person freely chooses a car to buy, it creates a hole on the
car lot.
Word of that hole gets back to the automobile producer and they fill
that hole back up with
an identical car.
The holes being created are for the bigger automobiles, that's what
people are chooseing to buy.
