The question of how there is anything at all, combined with the question of
how this 'anything' turns out to be what we are and perceive, is one of the
most fundamental questions that there is. Many people think they have found
the response to this question (which might be for example that an answer
cannot be found), but if they apply a little rational thought to the matter
they will realise that because there are others who are similarly convinced
that they have the best response to this fundamental question, their own
ideas are no more likely to be correct than those other people who have
given a similar degree of informed thought to the issue, and that what is
required is careful rational comparison of widely differing ideas, premises
and evidence. A systematic framework for such a comparison is provided at
http://www.afproject.org. This project has been running for a while but is
very much available for anyone to join who has a wish to carefully and
rationally consider the fundamental question mentioned above, whether or not
they have their own opinions - valuable contributions can be made in either
case. (Unfortunately the casual provision and exchange of ideas in
newsgroups like this are unlikely to convince others (or oneself if the
rational thoughts stated above are properly taken on board) that one has the
best response to this fundamental question.)
