designing ever increasingly stimulanting advertisements to combat our brains
filtering mechanisms. To what end is our societies advertisers sending us
to?

Cleaner whites in the wash
And then whites so clean they are unbelievable
And then forget what they said was clean, this is what clean whites look
like
And then, garbage, this is NEW AND IMPROVED - whites have never been so
white
And then what we said was fantastic was nothing short of grey - with this
new formula they really are white!
And then, hold on a tick, this is SENSATIONALLY IMPROVED - these really,
really are whiter than white
etc etc etc ad infinitum

What is the pursuit of happiness for some people?
The system may have attained it's own momentum.

I wonder if to some extent we are all "advertisers" at times?
Perhaps at the very least, we try to "sell" our ideas or
ourselves(maybe "our personality" is more accurate?) to others...
we may even use a "gimmick" to combat filtering...
It seems in that case the end is to get what the advertiser wants
from us....money, acceptance, a job, agreement, praise, companionship...
the specific "thing" probably changes depending on the situation
and what is wanted at the time.
Did I sell that to anyone? :-)
Thanks,
Dare

The industrialized world long ago met all it's human needs.
Now in order to provide a reason for living (employment)
for citizens it has to sell to our greeds. This means to artificially
create dissatisfactions and champion change for it's own sake.
Houses and cars are getting bigger and bigger. Electric tooth
flossers are all the rage. Kitchens are cluttered with microwave
butter melter-dispensers, salad shooters, crock pots, and
blenders seldom to never used twice.
We are made fickle and without core values in order to keep
the industrial machine running. Modern religion of insecurity
and unease is preached with every commercial. But exponential
growth and consumption can't be maintained in a finite world.
We are deep into the 'problem of plenty'. We need to find
other ways to justify human existence than work and consumption.
There are neither enough resources nor enough jobs even now.
A gigantic crash is coming soon. But why worry?
