Any Religion is whatever you want it to be. |
Give us a break. You all know this to be true.
The ultimate: Thou shalt not lie.
LMAO.
How is that even possible?
Constant state of guilt based upon some impossible mission, constantly
bombarded by the hypocrisy of it all.
Let's take our Jesus figure, why didnt he go about smashing up the
markets? Why just rest at the bankers in the temples?
Must be nice to sit at a table with a bunch of chosen buddies drinking
wine and eating bread.

Hmmm...I suppose there is the devil to contend with...no matter what name it
goes by or that we give it.
In what spirit is this reconjured role you provide us here? Simply a
halloween prank...or something more sinister? Ah...we can only surmise I
suppose...for I wonder even if you know.

It wasnt the right time obvs... Perhaps when Jesus returns he will
clean up the mess he helped make.

What pedophile? No.
How is it possible to conform with a *subjective* commandment?

Similar to language.
Both religion and language are brain based.
Granted there are differences in how you move
your lips and wave your arms. Still brain based.

But doesn't it take a mind to understand a brain...
and a mind is a 'state' within a brain?
We can alter to become all sorts of states...but there are some better than
others.
And perhaps a vector of supremecy, not of kind or power, but of virtue.
I guess you didn't like my comments about a dynamic consciousness.
Unleashing the brain's potential probably has nothing to do with better math
grades.
But I think it has everything to do with 'state'.
The first clue is to make the very idea of brain, an inferior
thing...submissive to the mind.
Because it IS.

Sir Frederick understands the situation. But i disagree with the
emotional "pond scum" analogy, since it infers that the world is
completely ugly. This is obviously untrue. I'm sorry he feels that way.

I wasn't pushing the "ugliness" aspect. Even "pond scum" can be beautiful,
consider the cellular and life cycle aspects.
I was pushing the "meaninglessness" of the situation. Granted we may
infer a self defined local meaning (such as breeding, or beauty), but
no global meaning, anymore than the pond scum locally or globally.

Then I think you have to accept that you have a nihilistic postion?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilism
"Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position
which argues that the world, especially past and current human
existence, is without objective meaning, purpose, comprehensible
truth, or essential value. Nihilists generally assert some or all of
the following: there is no reasonable proof of the existence of a
higher ruler or creator, a "true morality" does not exist, and secular
ethics are impossible; therefore, life has no truth, and no action can
be preferable to any other. The term nihilism is sometimes used
synonymously with anomie to denote a general mood of despair at the
pointlessness of existence.
Nihilism is often more of a charge leveled against a particular idea,
movement, or group, than it is an actual philosophical position to
which one overtly subscribes. Movements such as Dada, Futurism, and
deconstructionism, among others, have been identified by commentators
as "nihilistic" at various times in various contexts. Often this means
or is meant to imply that the beliefs of the accuser are more
substantial or truthful, whereas the beliefs of the accused are
nihilistic, and thereby comparatively amount to nothing (or are simply
claimed to be destructively amoralistic).
Nihilism is also a characteristic that has been ascribed to time
periods: for example, Jean Baudrillard and others have called
postmodernity a nihilistic epoch, and some Christian theologians and
figures of religious authority have asserted that postmodernity and
many aspects of modernity represent the rejection of God, and
therefore are nihilistic.
Nihilism is often associated with the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche,
whose views accorded with certain aspects of the position. The modern
definition, however, ***does not apply to him***. For while Nietzsche
could be accurately categorized as a nihilist in the descriptive
sense, he never advocated nihilism as a practical mode of living and
was typically quite critical of nihilism as he construed it. Another
prominent philosopher who has written on the subject is Martin
Heidegger, who argued that "[the term] nihilism has a very specific
meaning. What remains unquestioned and forgotten in metaphysics is
being; and hence, it is nihilistic."

You might ask if it makes any difference to your original argument
since if religion and language are brain based this doesn't
necessarily exclude the possibility that some god[s] were or were not
involved, it, they or impersonal evolutionary forces could have
designed things this way.

I imagine'd it to be more about the contention between the subjective
